The Windows installers are not signed yet: if Windows says "Windows protected your PC", click "More info", then "Run anyway".

Linux, the .msi installers, the command-line tools and satx: see Assets at the end of this page.

saturnus 0.10.2 makes the Windows command-line tools start on any Windows,
and the desktop app no longer pauses a key press while it saves.

Get it

  • On the web, nothing to install: https://ractive.ch/saturnus/app/
    (Chrome or Edge for a serial cable; every browser for the emulated
    calculator).
  • The desktop app saturnus_0.10.2_… (on Linux saturnus-app), with
    a -SHA256SUMS file beside them:
    • macOS, Apple silicon: .dmg, signed and notarised, or brew trust --cask ractive/tap/saturnus-app once, then brew install --cask ractive/tap/saturnus-app;
    • Windows: .msi or -setup.exe for x86_64 (x64) and ARM (arm64);
    • Linux: .deb, .rpm or .AppImage for x86_64 (amd64, x86_64)
      and ARM (arm64, aarch64). Add yourself to the dialout group to
      use a serial port.
  • The command-line tools saturnus and satx: cargo install,
    Homebrew ractive/tap, Scoop ractive, or the archives and Linux
    packages below.
  • Libraries on crates.io, all at 0.10.2.

Windows

  • No Visual C++ runtime needed. saturnus.exe and satx.exe now
    carry the C runtime inside them. Before, a Windows without the
    Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable could not start them at all; now
    the zip, Scoop and winget versions run as they are.
  • Running saturnus or satx on its own shows the help. Without a
    command, both print their short help, the same as -h, and end
    without an error. Before, they stopped with a "missing command" error,
    which made automatic install checks such as winget's fail. An unknown
    command or option is still an error.

Desktop app

  • Saving no longer holds up the calculator. The app saves the
    calculator's state in the background, so a key pressed while a large
    state (the 49G's) is being written is no longer delayed. Only the
    newest state waits to be saved, and starting up, starting fresh and
    closing the window wait until it is written.
