First real source-overlay patch on top of 2.0. Ships as a 174 KB tarball that the in-app updater installs in a couple of seconds. No AppImage rebuild needed.

What changed

_copy_bundled_plugins() was resolving its source directory from PyInstaller's _MEIPASS, which always points at the AppImage's bundled location and silently skipped any updated plugin a source-overlay tarball was carrying. It now resolves from its own module path, so an overlay that ships a newer plugins/now_playing/ (or any other bundled plugin) is picked up the same way every other Python file in the overlay is. User-installed third-party plugins are unaffected; they have always loaded from ~/.config/mountain-time-sync/plugins/ and have nothing to do with this code path.

This is also the first end-to-end test of the source-update flow introduced in 2.0. If you are on 2.0, you should see the update popup on next startup and the whole thing should take about as long as it takes to read this paragraph.

Downloads

  • source-2.0.1.tar.gz + source-2.0.1.tar.gz.sha256: the in-app updater on 2.0 picks these up automatically

There is no new AppImage in this release. The existing 2.0 AppImage stays valid and updates itself via the source overlay. If you are coming from 1.8.x or earlier, install the 2.0 AppImage first and the updater will then jump you to 2.0.1.
