ghostty-designer is now on npm, and themes can be duplicated, renamed and deleted from the panel.

New

  • Install with npm: npx ghostty-designer or npm install -g ghostty-designer
  • Duplicate any theme, and rename or delete your own, from the theme's detail. Your draft, undo history, favourites and pinned theme follow a rename.
  • The config switcher shows whether a file uses Ghostty's config as a base before you switch to it
  • When your config's own colour lines hide part of its theme, the panel shows that theme as the base theme. Pick it again to see all of it.
  • Fonts get the ligatures tag only when their ligatures join code such as ->. Menlo, Cascadia Mono and Fira Mono lose it.
  • Cursor thickness and height show their unit, and the font variation fields show their format

Fixes

  • The Colours summary names only the theme your config or draft sets, not any theme whose colours happen to match
  • Keyboard shortcuts work while a slider has focus
  • A new value replaces a field's invalid text
  • A theme pick no longer cancels a waiting font pick
  • Clearer empty searches, path wrapping, live status in a narrow window, and an error that says how to install Ghostty when it is missing
  • Esc Esc no longer discards all changes. Use Discard all in the toolbar or the ⌘K palette.

Install

brew install reemus-dev/tap/ghostty-designer # macOS
mise use -g github:reemus-dev/ghostty-designer # macOS and Linux
npm install -g ghostty-designer # macOS and Linux

On Linux, install the .deb or .rpm below, or the tarball after the runtime libraries. The README lists the commands.

It needs macOS 15 or later, or glibc 2.34 or later (Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12, Fedora 35), on arm64 or x86_64. It is tested with Ghostty 1.3.1.

The macOS app is not notarized yet. Homebrew, mise and npm installs run it as is. A manually downloaded app must first be allowed in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
