Hi Refine team 👋
I've been exploring the E-Commerce demo and wanted to share a few UI/UX improvement suggestions. I've worked on a similar product-based admin dashboard, and based on that experience, I think these changes could make the overall experience more intuitive and efficient.
Currently, when adding a product, the form opens in a panel on the right. I would suggest exploring a centered modal or dialog for this interaction.
A modal could also keep users focused on the task without making the page feel split. For more complex forms, a drawer or dedicated page could still be considered.
On the Products page, clicking a product row could open a modal displaying all relevant product details, including the product image, name, SKU, price, stock quantity, description, and category. Although a View button is already available, it opens a panel on the right. I think a modal could provide a more intuitive way to inspect product details while keeping the product list accessible.
This would let users inspect product information without leaving the list. An Edit action within the modal could make the workflow even more convenient.
On the Products page, after entering a search term or changing filter values, users currently have to click the Filter button to apply the changes.
I would suggest considering automatic filtering as users type, with a small debounce for text inputs, and applying other filter changes immediately where appropriate.
This would reduce unnecessary clicks and make searching and filtering feel faster and more natural. An explicit Apply button could still be useful when multiple filters need to be submitted together.
I think the dashboard should provide a quick overview rather than becoming a long, continuously expanding list of records.
For example, the Recent Orders section could:
Display only the latest 20 orders.
Include a View All Orders button that navigates to the dedicated Orders page.
Keep the dashboard concise while allowing users to access the complete order history when needed.
This would make the dashboard easier to scan and keep the focus on high-level insights.
These suggestions are based on my experience working on product-oriented admin dashboards. I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on whether these improvements align with Refine's direction.
If the team finds these ideas useful, I'd be happy to contribute their implementation through a PR.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and hopefully receiving positive feedback! Meanwhile, I'm continuing to explore the repository and look for other areas where I can contribute.
Thanks for building and maintaining Refine! ❤️
