Spool Studio Bridge 0.2.2 — four-tool sending

Choose a tag to compare

@rendez2k rendez2k released this 28 Sep 16:34

Send all four filaments in one go

Use Spool Studio web v1.9.33 to choose the loaded filament for Tools 1–4, review once, then send the whole setup. Each tool is sent and read back in order; a failure or uncertain result stops the remaining tools.

Bridge 0.2.2 fixes the readiness check that could block after the first send. It recognises Klipper's non-printing Ready state as well as Idle. Printing, paused, error and unknown states remain blocked. No heating, motion or print-start commands are added.

Quit the previous bridge before installing this update. Your existing encrypted configuration, printer key and Windows startup preference are retained. Check the connection and start the bridge afterwards. The website does not automatically update the desktop app.

Windows x64, Mac Intel and Mac Apple Silicon packages were built from commit 8233293. Printer regression tests, native Windows startup registration and application-entry smoke tests passed on the release runners. Linux amd64 container: ghcr.io/rendez2k/spool-studio-bridge:0.2.2. Hardware writes were not performed during automated testing.

Beta: Windows installer unsigned; Mac builds not notarised. Do not disable operating-system security protections. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the three desktop downloads and compose.yaml.

Spool Studio Bridge 0.2.1 — Windows startup fix

Windows startup checkbox fix

Fixes the startup switch reverting to Off even when Windows saved the entry. The app now correctly recognises its named startup item and installation paths containing spaces. Startup enabling returns immediately while printer checks continue in the background, and errors stay beside the setting.

Quit the previous desktop bridge before installing this update. Existing encrypted configuration and enabled Windows startup settings are retained. The website does not automatically update an installed desktop app.

Tested using actual Windows startup registration, including enable, OS-disable, re-enable and removal with a separate temporary test entry. Existing printer safety checks remain unchanged. This does not complete the physical Spoolman consumption acceptance test.

Beta: Windows installer unsigned; Mac builds not notarised. Do not disable operating-system security protections. SHA256SUMS.txt covers all four downloadable assets.

Spool Studio Bridge 0.2.0 — Windows startup

Spool Studio Bridge 0.2.0 — remember your Windows bridge

Windows users can now opt into Start with Windows and reconnect automatically, underneath Start bridge.

  • Starts in the tray after you sign in to Windows, using the saved encrypted configuration.
  • Checks the printer before starting the normal bridge loop.
  • Retries offline connection checks every 30 seconds while waiting for the network/printer.
  • Unsupported firmware still blocks starting. Existing busy-printer and reviewed-command checks remain unchanged.
  • Stop cancels automatic retries for the current session. Disable the checkbox to remove the Windows startup entry.
  • Uninstall removes this app's startup entry; upgrades preserve the preference.

One-time setup: quit the old bridge (closing the window only hides it), install this version, then tick the new option. It is off by default. Your saved configuration should remain. Enabling the option also checks and starts the bridge in this session when a configuration is present.

This is a per-user login application, not a Windows service running before sign-in. Keep the computer awake. macOS remains manual in this beta. Nothing starts a print or bypasses the existing printer safety checks.

The Windows installer is unsigned and Mac downloads are not Apple-notarised. Operating systems may warn or block installation; do not disable security protections.

Windows x64: Windows 10 or newer. Mac Intel/Apple Silicon: macOS 13 or newer.

Validation includes controller/renderer tests and a native simulated-login flow with local printer fixtures. That simulation mocks Windows registration and cloud responses; it is not a real Windows-reboot or hardware-print test.

Docker is available as ghcr.io/rendez2k/spool-studio-bridge:0.2.0 with the attached compose.yaml; Docker users do not need the Windows setting. Never share the private printer configuration.

Spool Studio Bridge 0.1.1 — visible connection feedback

Spool Studio Bridge 0.1.1 — connection feedback

  • Shows checking, passed, busy, unsupported and failed results directly below Check connection.
  • A successful check is labelled Ready · not running, rather than just Stopped.
  • Keeps the result and Start button visible in smaller windows.
  • No changes to printer write permissions, commands or safety checks.

Quit the existing bridge using Quit bridge or its tray menu, then install this version. Closing the window alone leaves it running. Your saved configuration should remain; check the connection again before starting. The desktop app does not update itself when the website refreshes.

The Windows package is unsigned and the Mac packages are not Apple-notarised. Operating systems may warn or block installation. Do not disable security protections. This remains a beta.

Windows x64: Windows 10 or newer. Mac Intel/Apple Silicon: macOS 13 or newer.

Tests cover progress and all result states. The native Windows app was checked against a local simulated printer using GET requests only; this is not a real-printer write test.

Advanced Docker users can use the attached compose.yaml with ghcr.io/rendez2k/spool-studio-bridge:0.1.1; no Docker change is necessary for this desktop UI fix. Never share the private printer configuration.

Spool Studio Bridge 0.1.0 — desktop beta

A local companion for reviewed Snapmaker U1 filament settings. Windows and Mac users do not need Node.js, Git or a repository checkout.

Install and pair

  1. Download the package for your computer. Windows: run the installer. Mac: unzip and move the app to Applications.
  2. In Spool Studio, open Printer → Local bridge setup. Create a printer key, enter the local addresses and download the private configuration.
  3. In the companion, Import configuration → Check connection → Start bridge. Keep the computer awake and on the printer's network.

Closing the window keeps the bridge in the tray/menu bar. Stop/ Quit finish any in-flight request safely. Restarting the app requires a fresh check/start. Credentials are stored using operating-system encryption; keep the original downloaded JSON private. Never upload it with a support request.

Unsigned early access: the Windows app is not code-signed and the Mac apps are not Apple-notarised. Your operating system may warn about or block them. Do not disable security protections. If blocked, wait for a signed release or use the advanced source/Docker option.

Windows x64 requires Windows 10 or newer. Mac Intel/Apple Silicon requires macOS 13 Ventura or newer.

Scope and safety

  • Sends reviewed generic material, finish and colour, not temperatures, motion or print jobs.
  • Requires supported U1 firmware; printing, paused and unknown states block changes.
  • Read-back verification is required. Lost command replies are not retried.
  • Optional existing Spoolman assignment is separate from consumption measurement and weight syncing.
  • No public printer ports, automatic startup, telemetry or automatic updates.
  • This beta still needs supervised real-printer acceptance; packaged Windows UI/encrypted import, automated safety tests and CI builds have been checked.

Docker (advanced, Linux amd64)

Download compose.yaml. Place the private JSON beside it, accessible to container user 1000 without making it world-readable.

docker compose run --rm spool-studio-bridge --check
docker compose up -d
docker compose logs --tail 30 spool-studio-bridge
docker compose down

Only start after a successful check. The published image is ghcr.io/rendez2k/spool-studio-bridge:0.1.0. No inbound ports are published. Do not run multiple printer bridges with the same key.
