it was introduced mostly for debugging purpose, it is quite annoying to see rollup bundled so many reduandant comments

Rollup breaks things up into many plugins, one of those is rollup-plugin-cleanup, it is this one that can cleanup comments.

Would be nice to have an option anyway, but it is not needed. :-)
