What changed

Added

  • The core says what the brake pedal did wrong. braking turns a
corners::Decomposition into verdicts a driver can act on: braking too soft,
too early, released too soon, trailed too long, or slowed more than the
corner asked for. One fault per corner, and the pressure is checked before
the brake point it would explain — telling somebody to brake later when they
are not using the brakes they have is the wrong instruction in the right
place. Judged on the entry-to-apex split rather than the whole section:
charging an exit to the brakes sends a driver to fix something else.
  • The engineer follows up on itself. followup remembers what was said
last time in this car at this circuit and compares it with what is said now
    — gone, eased, unchanged, worse, or new. That is the difference between an
engineer and a warning light that repeats, and it is what "did what I changed
work" has needed since the first release. Kept by the core rather than by a
front end, because a second implementation of "what did it say last time" is
a second set of answers to one question. Matched on the component alone and
case-insensitively, after a session reported the same tyres as both fixed and
    newly wrong.
  • Where a wheel let go, and how often. slips finds the stretches of road
where a front locked, a rear locked or a wheel spun, and merges them across
laps — locking at T3 once is a lap and locking at T3 every lap is a setting.
Each carries the corner it happened in, how long it lasted, how fast the car
was going and which wheels were sliding.
  • How the stint is going, and how much of it is left. stint fits the
trend from the best lap onward rather than from the pit exit, so the warm-up
is not counted as degradation, and it invents no fuel correction — a number
nobody measured is worse than no number.
  • A shared-lap library, with no accounts. library makes two random
numbers on the machine the first time anything is shared: a public one that
goes beside the lap and a secret one that proves the lap is yours if you come
back to change or remove it. No email, no password, nothing to log into —
and so nothing that can ever be sent to anybody. What leaves is decided per
lap, and the setup is off unless it is asked for.
  • The optimal lap says which of your own laps to watch. repeatability
records which lap was quickest through each corner, so "practise T16" becomes
"watch your third lap through T16" — a lap already driven, which is the
difference between advice and a task.

Fixed

  • Two screens, one lap, two different best times. The best-corners lap was
timed from a trace's last sample, and a trace's last sample is before the
line by however long the gap between readings is — nine milliseconds on a
sixty-hertz feed. So one screen said 2:19.304 and another 2:19.313 about the
same lap. Repeatability::against takes the figure the caller already holds.
  • A settled line held still with a number blurring inside it. steady
exists so a finding on its threshold does not appear and vanish several times
a second; it kept the line and replaced the wording on every call, so
"FL 99.4 °C" became four digits changing and a driver could read none of
them. The flicker had not gone, it had moved one level in. The wording
changes at most twice a second now — and anything that is not the wording
goes through at once, because a finding that becomes more serious is a
different instruction and must not wait.
  • Four rules offered a measurement as a setting. A Parameter is the
number to change and what to change it to. Tyre life said FL 89.59 % → 100.00 %, and nobody turns a tyre back to a hundred percent; the clip ratio
and the camber spread named settings this cannot know; pad and disc thickness
are replaced, not set. Each was drawn as the most prominent half of a finding,
under an action that could be followed, and each was an instruction that could
not. Every one of those measurements is still said — in the chain, where it is
an observation — and wear and pad thickness now name all four corners rather
than the worst, because a set going evenly and a set with one corner going are
    different problems.
  • Two rules read measurements one game does not make. Found by offering
Competizione in the window and then looking at every screen as somebody using
it would. analyze_aero computes rake from a ride height Competizione never
publishes, and was protected by nothing but a != 0.0 guard — one frame of
noise past it would have told a driver to stiffen their rear springs because
of a measurement their game never made. And stint::look read wear behind
Detail::measured, which says a lap carried detail at all and not that every
field in it was measured, so it offered "about 78 laps of tyre left" where
there is no wear figure at all.
  • Somebody who restarted appeared in the LAN list twice, and three times if
they restarted again: peers were keyed by an id made fresh on every run.
Keyed by address now, and an arrival clears any other row claiming the same
    id.

Changed

  • ideal is deleted. It summed the best of thirty slices of distance;
repeatability has summed the best of every corner for longer, and one
screen carried both, two tabs apart, with two different numbers. Deleted
rather than reconciled: the rule this project keeps is that the moment
something is worked out twice the copies disagree, and these did. The one
that survives names corners, which is what somebody can act on.
