A search log for systematic and scoping reviews

Turn the log on for a database and LitRank records each search's database, exact query, filters, result count and date as you run it — on 38 databases and publisher websites, including PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus and Embase.

  • Exports a Methods paragraph, a table, a search appendix or CSV, with a checklist of what PRISMA-S still needs
  • Records the query exactly as the database ran it where the database shows it, and marks it as typed where it cannot
  • Keeps refined searches linked to the search they narrowed; counts database and website searches separately, as PRISMA 2020 asks
  • Imports the search history pages of Web of Science, Scopus and ProQuest, and works through your library's proxy address
  • Off until you turn it on; your browser asks before LitRank reads each site

Journal ranks beyond Google Scholar

SJR quartile, SJR score, country and open-access badges on Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect and OpenAlex results, on the sites you turn on — shown only where the journal can be identified exactly.

Google Scholar profile analysis

On any author profile, press Analyse this author for a page-wide summary: total citations, h-index, i10-index, first-author papers, the median SJR, the share of papers and of citations in each quartile, the citation and publication trend by year, top papers, keywords and subject areas. Worked out in your browser from the profile itself.

Save from any publisher

Right-click any article page, or press Alt+Shift+L, to save it into a folder; save the PDF you have open the same way. Alt+Shift+K logs the search on any results page.

Changed

  • New name: LitRank: Literature Review for Google Scholar.
  • PDFs are saved one at a time. Bulk PDF download is gone: publishers block whole universities for automated downloading.
  • Licence: from 1.9.0 LitRank is free to use, all rights reserved. Earlier versions released under the GPL stay under it.

Data

Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) 2025 — over 31,000 journals with a quartile — and OpenAlex 2-year citedness, bundled inside the extension. No lookup leaves your computer.
