basal 2.5.1
basal 2.5.1 (2 November 2026). This release fixes one bug. Defaults and answers are the same as in 2.5.0.
--prepared autonow loads the start-up kernels shipped in the model repositories. In 2.5.0, the server's
first download (metadata only) put a repository'sprepared/<key>/manifest.jsoninto the model's local copy
without itsinductor.bin. The server then treated that directory as found, never fetched the kernels, and
compiled as on a cold start. You got the same answers but no shorter start-up.- What changed: no download takes
prepared/along any more. A prepared directory counts only when every file
its manifest lists is present, so the server fetches the missing files. This also repairs local copies that 2.5.0
left incomplete. 2.5.1 loads the directories already shipped for 2.5.0, because its compiled code is unchanged. - If you stay on 2.5.0: download the directory once before the first start, for example
hf download Remek/basal-omni-1.0-mini --include "prepared/*". - Directories that
basal-preparewrote on your own machine were not affected.
