Weekmark for Windows 0.3.0

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 19:02

The third test build of Weekmark for Windows. This is a pre-release for colleagues to try. The Mac app's download is unaffected.

What's new

  • Automatic updates. An installed copy checks for a new version a minute after it starts, then once a day. When one
    is ready, the menu shows Restart to Update to {version}. If you don't click it, the update installs the next time
    Weekmark starts.
  • Check for Updates… in the tray and widget menus, and Check Now in Settings → General → Updates.
  • Check for updates automatically in the same place turns the daily check off.

Install this one by hand

0.2.0 can't update itself. Install 0.3.0 from the Setup or Portable download once, as before. From then on updates
arrive on their own.

Privacy

The daily check is the only network request Weekmark for Windows makes. It asks GitHub about this project's releases and downloads
new versions from GitHub. GitHub sees your IP address; nothing else is sent. The
privacy page says the same.

Setup, Portable, x64 versus ARM64 and the unsigned-build warning work as in 0.1.0: see the
0.1.0 notes.

Please test

Work through the test checklist,
especially item 20, and report what you find as a GitHub issue,
including your Windows version, whether your PC is x64 or ARM64, and which checklist items failed.

@github-actions github-actions released this 26 Oct 03:11

The second test build of Weekmark for Windows. This is a pre-release for colleagues to try. The Mac app's download is unaffected.

What's new

  • Right-click the widget for the app menu, even when it sits on the desktop behind your windows.
  • Add Milestone in CW…: right-click a week in the month grid and Settings opens with that week filled in and the
    name ready to type.
  • Weeks in YYYY in the tray menu and the widget menu: pick any week of the year and the widget comes forward on that month.
  • Holidays by hand: in Settings → Holidays add your own holiday with a name and date, Remove All the company
    holidays, and see the next six under Coming up.
  • Quick Finder: press Ctrl+Alt+W in any app to look up a week, date, range or countdown. Enter copies the answer
    and Ctrl+Enter shows the week in the widget. It also opens from the tray and widget menus.
  • Quick Finder hotkey in Settings → General and in the Welcome screen: pick another shortcut or turn it off.
    If Windows refuses it because another app has it, Settings tells you. On keyboards where AltGr+W types a character
    (Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Croatian), pick Alt+Win+W.
  • Show Welcome Screen Again in Settings → General.

Setup, Portable, x64 versus ARM64 and the unsigned-build warning work as in 0.1.0: see the
0.1.0 notes.

Please test

Work through the test checklist,
especially items 18 and 19, and report what you find as a GitHub issue,
including your Windows version, whether your PC is x64 or ARM64, and which checklist items failed.

Weekmark 1.2.1

  • Long milestone names are no longer cut off. A milestone name that doesn't fit on one line in the widget now continues on a second line, and the widget grows to fit.

Weekmark 1.2

  • Year at a Glance. See the whole year at once: all 12 months with the week number on every row, with today, the current week, holidays, milestones and sprint starts marked. Open it with the new calendar button above the widget's month, or from the menu bar. Hover a week for its dates and working days, click to pin it, ⌘C to copy it, and ← → to change the year.
  • Week numbers in any calendar. Not everyone on your team has a Mac: they can subscribe to a free calendar that shows “CW 46” every Monday in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. Find it at rockykusuma.github.io/weekmark/weeks.

Weekmark for Windows 0.1.0

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Oct 18:18

The first test build of Weekmark for Windows: the calendar week number, always visible on your desktop.
This is a pre-release for colleagues to try. The Mac app's download is unaffected.

What it does

  • Desktop widget with the same content and look as the Mac widget: the week number, date range and year ring;
    quarter, sprint and PI chips; the 7-day strip with holidays; the week's progress; up to 3 upcoming milestones;
    and a month grid with a CW column (hover a week for its details, click to pin it, scroll or ‹ › to change month).
  • Sits on the desktop behind your windows, or floats above them. Drag it anywhere (it can be locked). It remembers
    its place per monitor. It has no taskbar button and stays out of Alt+Tab.
  • Tray icon showing the week number. Its menu copies "CW43 (19–25 Oct)", shows or hides the widget, and opens the
    position, size and settings options.
  • Search field in the widget: type a week (46), a date (Dec 12), an offset (+6w), a range (46-50) or a
    countdown (until CW52) to see the dates, working days and holidays. Enter copies the result.
  • Year at a Glance (the calendar button in the widget, or the tray menu): all 12 months with week numbers.
    Hover a week for its details, click to pin it, ← → change the year, Ctrl+C copies.
  • Settings: ISO or US week numbering, size, background, appearance, sprints, PIs, quarters, holidays for 10
    countries, your company's .ics file, and milestones.
  • Starts with Windows (you can turn this off). It installs without admin rights, into your user profile.
  • Its week numbers, holidays and working-day counts are checked against the Mac app's own answers.

Which file to download

  • Setup: Weekmark-Windows-0.1.0-x64-Setup.exe or …-arm64-Setup.exe.
    It installs per user and puts Weekmark in the Start menu.
  • Portable: the …-Portable.zip files. Right-click, Extract all, then run Weekmark.exe from the extracted
    folder (not from inside the zip view). Nothing is installed.

x64 or ARM64? Check Settings → System → About → "System type". "x64-based processor" (almost all laptops) → the x64
download; "ARM-based processor" (Snapdragon / Copilot+ PCs) → ARM64. The wrong one says "This app can't run on your
PC".

"Windows protected your PC"

This build is not code-signed: we're applying for free open-source code signing, and until then builds are unsigned.
SmartScreen may warn the first time you run it. Click More info, then Run anyway. If your company laptop doesn't offer Run anyway, you
can build Weekmark from source with
only the free .NET SDK. Copies you build yourself usually don't trigger the warning.

Please test

Work through the test checklist and
report what you find as a GitHub issue, including your Windows
version, whether your PC is x64 or ARM64, and which checklist items failed.
