Toby 1.0.24 brings shared group conversations, a calmer chat interface, and independent jobs for your AI team on Mac.

What changed

  • Every active group member receives public messages and can reply, react or stay quiet. Shared history, facts and delivery state persist locally across restarts.
  • Clearer identities, grouped messages, subtle reply connections and consistent sibling replies. Internal decisions and delegated worker messages stay out of public chat.
  • Multiple independent jobs can run concurrently, including jobs for the same agent. Context, approvals and results stay scoped to each job.
  • Onboarding access choices, per-agent overrides, remembered approval categories and Mac notifications when your intervention is needed.
  • Final-response handling for OpenAI and Grok, safer public-message projection, and preserved drafts while work or approvals are pending.

Install

Download Toby-1.0.24-arm64.dmg, open it, and drag Toby into Applications. Requires Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later. Install this update manually; this Electron release does not include an automatic updater. Earlier Swift versions use separate storage and are not migrated automatically.

The app and installer are Developer ID signed, not Apple-notarized or stapled. macOS may block opening the download. Voice input remains unavailable; replies are text. Inference uses your existing ChatGPT/Codex or Grok subscription. Local background work requires an awake Mac and a running Toby host.

Verification

79 unit tests, eight storage tests, targeted host/renderer integrations, responsive conversation and connector checks, packaged startup, task-bound MCP transport, signatures and installer layout passed. Live OpenAI/Grok scenarios verified useful public collaboration, quiet greetings/reactions, private-output isolation and shared context after restart in the 1.0.23 host; the host and preload are unchanged in 1.0.24. These checks do not certify every possible model response or OS permission configuration.
