v1.0.0-beta
Roofle 1.0.0-beta
The first public beta of Roofle: a macOS menu-bar app that listens to your meetings, transcribes them on your Mac, and helps you while they happen. Free and open source (MIT).
What it does
- Live transcription from your microphone and system audio, tagged by source.
- Live notes: one short notes document that is rewritten as the conversation goes (summary, key points, decisions, action items).
- Suggested questions: a gap or vague point worth asking about, with a Source button that jumps to the part of the transcript it came from.
- Recap of the last 30 seconds, and key figures and dates on demand.
Requirements
- Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 13 or newer
- An API key for an LLM provider, entered in Settings (OpenRouter is the default). Notes, questions and recaps use it; transcription does not.
Install
- Download
Roofle_1.0.0-beta_aarch64.dmgbelow, open it, and drag Roofle to Applications. - Or with Homebrew:
brew install --cask roofle-ai/roofle/roofle
Verify your download against SHA256SUMS:
shasum -a 256 Roofle_1.0.0-beta_aarch64.dmg
First run
- Roofle downloads its speech model once (a few minutes); keep the app open until it finishes.
- macOS asks for Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording access. Both are needed to capture each side of a call.
- Roofle lives in the menu bar. Left-click the icon to open the window; right-click for the menu. Closing the window only hides it.
Privacy
Audio is transcribed on your Mac and never uploaded. Transcript text goes only to the LLM provider you configure. Roofle has no server of its own and no analytics or telemetry. It also contacts GitHub to download the speech model and to check for updates. Details are in the README.
Beta notes
- This is a beta: expect rough edges. Please report problems through the issue tracker.
- The in-app update check looks for new releases on GitHub.
