I have something passable for "settings". You might think that "a drop down box with four orientations" would make sense, but It would take me years to figure that out. You get two boolean toggles. The two orientation settings will always be orthogonal. One toggle switches one side between uppey-downey, the other toggle switches between lefty-righty. Changes will not be apparent until the next time you hit the rotate toggle.
You are responsible for turning off Gnome-shell's built in Autorotate.
If your device is "tablet-y" and "could possibly dock with a keyboard", Gnome-shell will probably force an orientation change on suspend/resume. There is definitely nothing that I can do about that.

Now, instead of being a "know nothing" toggle, it reads the current orientation and flips to the other one. No more tapping once to get nothing, and tapping again to get something!
Still has no functional prefs, edit manualOrientationMenuToggle.js:41 to change which particular orientations.

It works on my Chuwi Hi 10 X1. I just chopped bits and pieces off of shyzus's rotate extension until I got the bare minimum. Less than bare minimum, actually. I have no idea if it will work at all on a "properly recognized by Gnome-Shell as having a dealer-authorized accelerometer" tablet.
The Prefs panel does not work, MY GOD why is it such a nightmare to say "here are some values that I would like to be connected to anything so sophisticated as a GTK checkbox." I do not believe that the schema file is used at all. It has no bearing on anything whatsoever.
Whatever. Edit ManualOrientationMenuToggle.js:87,89 to fix up orientations. Use values from 0-3.
I spent days trying to get prefs dot js to work. ADW has an entire "Preferences" hierarchy. Why can't this this stuff hook up automatically? I spent all day on this and I hate it. Rant rant rant rant rant rant rant rant ra
