Welcome to the Courier documentation.
Courier is free, self-hosted, one-way messaging for schools. You write a short notice in a web console on your own Windows Server, choose who should see it, preview it, send it, and then watch how far it got. The notice appears on the Windows computers you chose, through the RSJ Agent.
Courier is new. The Getting Started page says what has been seen working on a real computer and what has not, and Courier makes no promise about emergency delivery -- please read those before you rely on it.
- Getting Started -- install Courier, enrol your first computer and send a first notice
- Sending a notice -- the New notice form, the preview, expiry, results, history and templates
- Audiences -- sending to computers or to people, and Active Directory groups
- Active Directory groups -- finding, counting and addressing groups, and what is not built
- Formatting a notice -- bold, lists, a highlighted line, text size and font
- Priority notices and All clear -- urgent notices, the red band, sound, Cancel and All clear
- Templates -- wording you reuse, with blanks for a date, a room or a choice
- Sender limits -- school-wide and per-sender limits
- Agent Settings -- deploying the RSJ Agent, the device lists and the Courier module
- Accounts and Sign-in -- administrators and senders, passwords, and what happens when one is lost
- Firewall and Network -- the one port Courier uses, what talks to what, and the certificate
- Backup and Restore -- what to copy, and how to put it back
- Updates -- moving to a newer version, and the Updates tab
- Troubleshooting -- common problems and what to check
- Support bundle -- the diagnostics .zip for a support request, and what is in it
- Releases -- download the latest version
- Discussions -- questions and ideas, in RSJ Software's shared space; report problems as Issues
Courier is built by RSJ Software -- a school IT professional who built it for the school IT community. Visit rsjsoftware.com for more information.
