On the point of LTS distro compatibility, I looked into what Rust will be required by Firefox ESR, since that's the most likely reason for older distros to need to update |

LLVM 8 was released on March 20, 2019, over a year ago.
CI should be fixed now, in case that push didn't notify... |
@bors r+ Thank you for checking the ESR version requirements from Firefox. We should probably document our "reasons" for choosing a given LLVM version as the oldest one we support, and that seems like a good start... |
