The native text backend and the accessibility adapter are built with fat LTO (native/text, native/a11y, tools/build_text.ps1, tools/build_a11y.ps1): their crate types listed rlib next to staticlib, and rustc skips LTO whenever an rlib is among them: every dependency stayed a separate unoptimized object (gt_text.lib 33.2 MB, now 6.4 MB; gt_a11y.lib 16.9 MB, now 4.8 MB). The crates are now plain libraries (an application's Rust library still depends on them) and the scripts ask for the static library alone (cargo rustc --crate-type staticlib); they fail if an object of another crate is left in the archive.
