I think the first thing the blog post should mention is the switch to the 2.13 standard library, it's a big user-visible change and it's not controversial.

For instance, when switching from 0.17.0 to 0.18.1 (without updating scala-library-2.12.8 to scala-library-2.13.0) today I got the following error message : "class scala.collection.IterableOnce not found".
