Ori VR 1.2
Fixed
- VR did not start on some PCs, and the game stayed flat with no explanation. Ori is a 32-bit game, so it has its own OpenXR runtime setting, separate from 64-bit games. On some PCs that setting is empty or points at something a 32-bit game cannot load. The log showed
createInstance failed: -51. The mod now uses SteamVR's 32-bit runtime for Ori only when this happens. It needs SteamVR 2.17 or newer, and your headset has to work in SteamVR. Nothing on your PC is changed, and a runtime that starts normally is never overridden. - If VR still cannot start, the mod menu now says so and tells you why.
New
- Picture setting in the mod menu: Auto, Steady or Floating Panel. Steady draws the stage into each eye's view, and is meant to stop the stretching and shearing some players saw on Virtual Desktop when turning their head. Floating Panel is how the mod has always worked. Auto uses Steady on Virtual Desktop and Floating Panel on everything else. Thanks to junglejuz for Steady.
- Every row in the mod menu now has a tooltip.
Changed
- The log now records the 32-bit OpenXR runtime, the runtime and headset in use, and which picture mode was chosen. If VR does not start, please attach
BepInEx\LogOutput.logfrom the game folder to an issue.
Not tested yet
- The SteamVR fallback on a real Steam Frame or with Pimax Play's own OpenXR runtime. It was tested by simulating those failures.
Install
Unzip OriVR-1.2.zip, double click Install OriVR.bat, and type 1. It updates older versions in place, and your settings are kept.
Ori VR 1.1
Fixed
- VR did not start for some players, on any runtime. Some OpenXR add-ons (API layers) only come in a 64-bit version, and this game is 32-bit. When one was installed, OpenXR refused to start and the game stayed flat. The log showed
createInstance failed: -32. The mod now switches such add-ons off for Ori only. Nothing is changed on your PC, and the add-ons still work in your other games.
Changed
- The log now lists every OpenXR add-on the game sees, on lines starting
OpenXR layer. If VR does not start, please attachBepInEx\LogOutput.logfrom the game folder to an issue. - Tested headsets: Pimax Dream Air through SteamVR, and Meta Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop's VDXR.
Install
Unzip OriVR-1.1.zip, double click Install OriVR.bat, and type 1. It updates 1.0 in place, and your settings are kept.
Ori VR 1.0
First public release. Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition as a floating 3D diorama, in true stereo through OpenXR. Both eyes are drawn from the same game tick, with no alternate-eye rendering and no warping.
What's in it
- Native stereo using the game's own 3D layers
- The game runs at your headset's refresh rate, at normal game speed
- Resolution set from your headset's pixel density and the stage size
- In-headset settings menu in the game's own font. Click both sticks to open it
- Sliders for stage distance, stage size, depth, pop-out, sharpening and resolution
- Installs with one bat file, and uninstalls the same way. No game files are changed
You need
- The Steam version of the game
- A PC VR headset with a 32-bit OpenXR runtime: SteamVR 2.17 or newer set as your OpenXR runtime, or Virtual Desktop's VDXR
- A gamepad
Install
Unzip OriVR-1.0.zip, double click Install OriVR.bat, and type 1. Start SteamVR or connect Virtual Desktop, then start Ori from Steam.
Please read
- Tested in real headsets on two setups: Pimax Dream Air through SteamVR, and Meta Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop's VDXR. Other headsets and graphics cards should work but have not been tried. Reports are welcome.
- There is no DLSS. The game is 32-bit, and DLSS needs a 64-bit game.
- The mod is not signed, so Windows may warn you, and Smart App Control can block it. The README covers this.
- If something goes wrong, please attach
BepInEx\LogOutput.logfrom the game folder to an issue.
