Release list
JV-880 1.0.9
- ROM check in the installer app. The plugin now declares its ROM files, so the installer app's Your ROMs and files step checks each file before copying it into
jv880-roms/roms/(orroms/expansions/for SR-JV80 cards). The 256 KBrom2file is saved asjv880_rom2.binwhatever it is called; the other four files share sizes, so keep their names (jv880_rom1.bin,jv880_nvram.bin,jv880_waverom1.bin,jv880_waverom2.bin). - No change to the sound or the skin.
Downloads: JV-880-1.0.9-mpc-armv7.zip for Gen1 MPC and Force, JV-880-1.0.9-mpc-aarch64.zip for Gen2 (MPC OS 3.x). Your ROMs in jv880-roms/roms/ are kept on upgrade.
JV-880 1.0.8
- Q-Links on track edit → automation now work. The wrapper no longer asks MPC to rebuild its parameter screen after every parameter write (open-mpc/mpc-vst-plugins#486). Verified on a Force.
- PLAY page: the macro knob values are no longer half hidden by the row below.
Downloads: JV-880-1.0.8-mpc-armv7.zip for Gen1 MPC and Force, JV-880-1.0.8-mpc-aarch64.zip for Gen2 (MPC OS 3.x). Your ROMs in jv880-roms/roms/ are kept on upgrade.
JV-880 1.0.7
Title badge is now MINI-JV. First Gen2 (aarch64, MPC OS 3.x) build alongside the Gen1/Force armv7 zip. Requires your own JV-880 ROMs (docs/ROMS.md).
JV-880 VST v1.0.6
Roland JV-880 emulation with a native MPC skin: BANKS browser, one-page PLAY, tone editors.
Requirements
- A first-generation MPC OS standalone device (32-bit ARM, like the Force, MPC Live / Live II, One, X and Key 61).
The installer refuses anything else. Newer models are untested. - Root shell access (SSH) to the device. Stock MPC OS doesn't offer this; you need a modded unit.
- Tested on MPC OS with a Force. Installing plugins this way is unofficial: back up first, use at your own risk.
Install (scripted)
- Unzip, then copy the whole folder to the device, e.g.
scp -r JV-880-1.0.6 root@<device-ip>:/tmp/ - Run it:
ssh root@<device-ip> sh /tmp/JV-880-1.0.6/install.sh
The installer checks the device, stops MPC (save your project first), copies portable/sd88me - VST - JV-880/ (the plugin, its skin
and its data, as one folder) into /sdcard/Synths, backs up MPC.settings, adds the plugin to MPC's plugin list from the
folder's plugin-meta.xml and starts MPC again. Running it again upgrades in place, keeping your own files.
An older install of this plugin (the previous layout, with the .so in /sdcard/vst) is replaced, not duplicated.
-y skips the confirmation prompt; -t <folder> installs into another Synths folder (for example on a card).
Your own files go in jv880-roms/ inside the plugin folder (/sdcard/Synths/sd88me - VST - JV-880/); the installer keeps them when you upgrade and uninstall, and moves them there from the old /sdcard/vst location if you had installed the plugin that way.
Then add JV-880 to a track from the plugin browser (Instrument plugins). Its screen appears in the plugin view,
and the Q-Links follow the page.
Full instructions, including installing by hand, are in INSTALL.md inside the zip.
Built by GitHub Actions from c950bf8 with mpc-vst-plugins@e15ce12.

ssh root@<device-ip> sh /tmp/JV-880-1.0.5/install.sh
The installer checks the device, stops MPC (save your project first), copies portable/sd88me - VST - JV-880/ (the plugin, its skin
and its data, as one folder) into /sdcard/Synths, backs up MPC.settings, adds the plugin to MPC's plugin list from the
folder's plugin-meta.xml and starts MPC again. Running it again upgrades in place, keeping your own files.

JV-880 VST v1.0.4
Fixes loading on MPC OS 2.x (glibc 2.32): the 1.0.3 build bound pthread and dladdr calls to GLIBC_2.34, which MPC OS 2.x lacks. This build needs only GLIBC_2.17. The installer also works on Hakai-enabled systems (service inmusic-mpc instead of acvs). No other plugin changes; your ROMs are kept.

JV-880 v1.0.2
Layout change: the plugin now installs as one folder in /sdcard/Synths. Put your ROMs in jv880-roms/roms/ inside that folder (see docs/ROMS.md); the installer replaces an older install and moves your ROMs from /sdcard/vst/jv880-roms over.
- Unzip, then copy the whole folder to the device, e.g.
scp -r JV-880-1.0.2 root@<device-ip>:/tmp/ - Run it:
ssh root@<device-ip> sh /tmp/JV-880-1.0.2/install.sh
The installer checks the device, copies portable/sd88me - VST - JV-880/ (the plugin, its skin and its data, as one folder) into
/sdcard/Synths, then stops MPC (save your project first), backs up MPC.settings, adds the plugin to MPC's plugin
list from the folder's plugin-meta.xml and starts MPC again.
JV-880 v1.0.1
Same plugin as 1.0.0, repackaged as a catalog-conformant release (adds mpc-plugin.json). Requirements: a first-generation MPC OS device (32-bit ARM) with root SSH, and your own JV-880 ROMs in /sdcard/vst/jv880-roms/roms/ (see docs/ROMS.md). Install: unzip, scp the folder to the device, run install.sh (see INSTALL.md in the zip).
JV-880 v1.0.0
Roland JV-880 as a native VST2 plugin for first-generation MPC OS devices (tested on Force), with its own MPC screen skin.
You need your own JV-880 ROM dump, v1.0.0 exactly. It is not included. See docs/ROMS.md for the files and where they go (/sdcard/vst/jv880-roms/roms/).
What's in v1.0.0
- One-page PLAY (macros, output, patch, reverb, chorus) plus BANKS, and four TONE pages
- BANKS: browse banks/expansions and patches, selected tile stays highlighted, top strip with bank / patch / page and PREV/NEXT
- Q-Links now accumulate on slow turns (integer params no longer stick)
Requirements: 32-bit ARM MPC OS standalone device (Force, MPC Live/II, One, X, Key 61), root SSH access. Unofficial: back up first, use at your own risk.
Install: unzip, scp -r JV-880-1.0.0 root@<device-ip>:/tmp/, then ssh root@<device-ip> sh /tmp/JV-880-1.0.0/install.sh. The installer stops MPC (save your project first). Full steps, manual install and uninstall are in INSTALL.md inside the zip.
