Pyquest v0.1.3 — Source-line diagnostics
Failed checks now connect directly back to the editor.
- Exact traceback locations receive red source-line highlights
- Assertion-only failures receive an honest amber related-function highlight
- Every affected gutter line gets a visible diagnostic marker
- Clicking a failed check scrolls and focuses the relevant source line
- Multiple failures remain marked while the selected one is emphasized
- A successful rerun clears all diagnostics
Pyquest v0.1.2 — Indentation guidance
Pyquest now makes invisible indentation problems visible and actionable.
- Shows subtle dots for leading spaces and arrows for tabs
- Warns live when tabs, spaces, or uneven indentation are mixed
- Translates TabError and IndentationError into beginner-friendly feedback with a line number
- Safely converts leading tabs to four-space tab stops in one click
Python convention remains four spaces per indentation level; the guardrails focus on accidental mixing and misalignment.
Pyquest v0.1.1 — REPL history polish
A focused REPL usability patch.
- The empty command prompt now reads as intentionally faded placeholder guidance.
- Down Arrow stops at the newest history position instead of wrapping to the oldest command.
- Reaching the history bottom gives a restrained 180 ms visual cue and a very quiet tone when sound is enabled.
- The current unsent draft is preserved while browsing history.
Pyquest v0.1.0 — First public release
Pyquest is now a public, MIT-licensed coding-practice engine with 18 Python lessons, a polished split workspace, focused checks, a stateful REPL, progress rewards, native localhost execution, and a safe browser-contained GitHub Pages runtime.
Course content remains sourced from and attributed to Alex’s Python: Zero to Hero repository; it is not redistributed or relicensed by Pyquest.
