v1.9.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Nov 06:57
v1.9.2
2af1d72

Added

  • The F3 viewer scrolls sideways with a trackpad swipe or a tilting mouse wheel when word wrap is off, and in hex mode. On Linux, Shift with the mouse wheel does the same. It stops at the end of the widest line on screen, and a swipe that isn't quite straight doesn't also scroll up or down.

v1.9.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Nov 08:42
v1.9.1
e2eb9f2

Changed

  • The F3 viewer opens without word wrap. Press W to turn wrap on or off. Your choice applies to every viewer you open after that, until you quit; the next start is without wrap again.

v1.9.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 19:43
v1.9.0
24eaae0

New

  • The Git branch in the path header. Inside a Git repository, each panel's header shows the branch at its right: main ↑2 ↓1 •.
    • ↑ and ↓ count the commits ahead of and behind the upstream (left out when zero). The dot means something changed: staged, modified, deleted, untracked or in conflict. A detached HEAD shows its commit, (a1b2c3d).
    • It never slows a folder down: the listing shows first, and the branch is filled in a moment later. Moving around inside a repository runs nothing.
    • It updates on Ctrl-R, when you switch back to the window (so a commit made in a terminal shows), and when files change in the folder shown.
    • Uses the git on your PATH; without it, nothing shows. Local folders only, not on remote folders or inside archives. A repository whose status takes more than 5 seconds is skipped until Ctrl-R.
    • Turn it off with the new Git switch in Settings, or git = false in the config file.

Changed

  • The Settings dialog has two columns, so it fits smaller windows. In a narrow window, or zoomed far in, it goes back to one column. The "Columns" group is now called "Panels".

v1.8.6

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 14:22
v1.8.6
453161e

Changed

No changes to the app. This release reorganizes the build and install scripts for people who build from source:

  • ./build.sh, ./run.sh, ./test.sh and ./clean.sh in the repository root. build.sh and run.sh make a release build, --debug a debug one.
  • Installing from source is now ./build.sh && install/install-linux.sh on Linux and ./build.sh && install/install-mac.sh on macOS (build.sh also makes the .app there). The install scripts no longer build.
  • The curl | sh installer and the release downloads work as before.

v1.8.5

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 12:18
v1.8.5
56fde1d

Viewer: default to markdown for .md files

v1.8.4

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Oct 07:53
v1.8.4
fa52293

Improved

  • Ctrl-Shift-T on a remote folder now opens a box with the ssh command for that folder (ssh -t host 'cd /path; exec "$SHELL" -l'). Choose Copy and start terminal to copy it and open your terminal in your home folder, ready to paste, or Copy only to just copy it. Before, Ctrl-Shift-T refused on a remote folder. The terminal is your usual one: $TERMINAL, the KDE System Settings choice, or the first known terminal found; Terminal.app on macOS.

v1.8.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 17:59
v1.8.3
c71f6ea

Improved

  • Press ? in the viewer (F3), or click the small ? button at the right of its status line, to see the viewer's keys over the text. Keys that do nothing in the current mode are dimmed. The other keys keep working while the list shows; ?, Escape or a click closes it.

Changed

  • In the viewer, T, H and M now pick text, hex and Markdown mode instead of toggling. H goes straight from Markdown to hex, and T returns to text in the wrap mode it had. Pressing the key of the mode already shown does nothing.

v1.8.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 13:16
v1.8.2
bc74198

Changed

  • Space now selects or deselects the entry under the cursor and leaves the cursor where it is, as in Total Commander. Insert selects and moves on to the next entry, for selecting a run of files. (Mac keyboards have no Insert key; use Space and Down there.)

v1.8.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 13:00
v1.8.1
37033af

Improved

  • Enter on a file inside an archive now opens it in its application. The file is extracted to the app's private temporary folder, made read-only (changes can't be saved back into the archive) and handed to the system's opener. Programs inside an archive are never run directly. The copies are deleted when the app quits. A symlink inside an archive shows a message instead.
  • A tab inside an archive shows the archive's type before the folder name, like sftp: for remote folders: zip:docs, and zip:foobar at the root of foobar.zip (tar.gz:, tgz: and so on for the other formats).

Security

  • Updated zip to 9.1.3 and rustls to 0.23.46 for published security advisories. yagni-commander was not affected: it reads zip entry names from the archive's central directory both when listing and when extracting, and uses rustls only for Help > Check for updates.

v1.8.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 12:23
v1.8.0

New

  • Markdown mode in the viewer. Press M in F3 to show the file as formatted Markdown (headings, lists, task lists, tables, code blocks, quotes, links) and M again to go back to the text or hex view. Any file can be shown this way; the viewer still always opens as text.
    • Text reflows to the window width and follows the viewer's zoom, headings included.
    • Up/Down, PageUp/PageDown, Home/End, the mouse wheel and the scrollbar scroll. Drag to select, double-click a word, Ctrl-A selects all, and Ctrl-C copies the text as shown, without the Markdown marks.
    • Ctrl-F, F3 and Shift-F3 search the text as shown, with the same options as in text mode. Text and Markdown mode each keep their own current match.
    • Links like https: and mailto: open with your browser or mail app. Relative links do nothing yet.
    • Images that are local files show: a path relative to the Markdown file (or absolute), PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, SVG and a few more, up to 20 MiB. Other images show their alt text. Nothing is ever fetched from the network, so remote badges and pictures show as text.
    • For speed, files over 1 MiB and files with a paragraph (or a table or code block) over 64 KiB stay in the text view, and a message says why.
