Polka 0.65.0
- Fan menu
- Back in the middle, it stays a moment before it goes ("Hides after", 0.4 s by default), so the stick can swing over to the other side.
- After an item runs, the stick moves nothing until it's back in the middle — settings or a dialog the item opened don't start scrolling by themselves.
- Styles: Lines (as before), Segments (a ring of bordered segments with the text along each; the one pointed at stands out, lit in the accent colour), Petals, Text. The preview in the settings shows the one chosen.
- Preview strip for pictures and videos. The folder's pictures and videos as a strip of previews (videos marked ▶), the one shown framed in the accent colour and scrolled to. Click one to show it, a video too. In the picture/video menu: below, above, left, right or hidden, and small/medium/big previews.
Polka 0.64.0
- Fan menu on a gamepad stick. Push the stick (the left one by default) and two circles appear at the window's left edge, the inner one following the stick. Near the outer circle's edge the context menu fans out to the right in the accent colour; ✕ / A runs the item the stick points at. Let go (or back to the middle) and it's gone.
- It shows the same menu as △ / Y wherever you are: files, sidebar places, the text editor, documents, video and audio, disk usage, the terminal, torrents.
- Touch the outer circle's left edge to switch to Polka's own menu (and back).
- Submenus and "More…" open as further fans; ○ / B goes back a level. Toggles stay open so several can be flipped in a row.
- Settings → Fan menu: on/off, left or right stick, size, how far out the items show, animations — with a live preview.
- In dialogs, menus and the on-screen keyboard the left stick moves the cursor as before.
- Settings categories get lower in a low window, so they all fit.
Polka 0.63.1
- Versions and updates: when GitHub's API limit is reached (60 requests an hour per address without an account), Polka now says so plainly and tells in how many minutes it answers again, instead of a bare "error: 403".
Polka 0.63.0
- Dual-pane mode: drag the line between the panes with the mouse to share the width (remembered; double-click it to make them even). Pull it up to a wall and the pane there closes — the other one stays alone and takes the focus.
- New setting "Other pane's address folds away" (Files): in dual-pane mode only the active pane's address bar is wide, the other folds to a square; switching panes swaps them.
- The address bars no longer stay widened for a couple of seconds after the line between the panes moves.
Polka 0.62.1
- A right click on the empty space between tiles (or below the list, or in an empty folder) opens Polka's menu — the same as the menu button — right where you clicked. A right click on an item still opens that item's actions.
Polka 0.62.0
- Cancelling a move works right away, even while a huge folder is being counted
- A cancelled move is rolled back: moved items go back, a partial copy is removed ("Rolling back the move" in the progress panel)
Polka 0.61.0
- Properties: size, space on disk and files/folders inside a folder (counted live); several items: their sum, then each one's own figures
- A right click beside an open context menu reopens it there
- Fix: closing Disk usage with its own ✕ crashed
- Fix: crash in 0.60.0 when another program took the clipboard
Polka 0.60.0
- Drag files out of an archive into another program or another Polka window (unpacked first)
- Long PDFs: pages in view are drawn first, a fast wheel scroll no longer stalls after ~50 pages
- Text editor: Ctrl+V works after leaving the terminal; a newer clipboard from other programs wins
- Right-click menu in the text editor: Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Select all, Find…
0.59.1
0.59.0
- A torrent's folders when adding it: folders come first, then files. A folder's check box takes everything inside in or out (shown as – when only some is), and its tile opens it — with a .. tile and a path to go back up. All / none works on the folder shown.
- Gamepad: ✕ opens a folder or ticks a file, □ ticks what's under the cursor, △ all / none, ○ up a level.
