react-native-splash-motion 0.1.0

First release of react-native-splash-motion: an animated splash screen for React Native that plays a Lottie or dotLottie animation as a native overlay from the moment the app launches, before the JavaScript bundle has loaded, and then hands off smoothly to your app.

Highlights

  • Animated from first launch. The animation starts natively at app start-up, so there is no static splash followed by a jump to motion.
  • Lottie and dotLottie support. Use .json (Lottie) or .lottie (dotLottie) files, with no native code to write.
  • Simple API. Call SplashMotion.hide() when your app is ready, or use the useHideSplash(ready) hook. Check state with SplashMotion.isVisible().
  • Smooth hand-off. Options such as waitForLoop, outro, minDuration and fade let the current loop finish, play an outro marker, enforce a minimum display time and fade out cleanly.
  • CLI setup. npx splash-motion generate <animation> configures the native launch screen for iOS and Android, including background colour, size and a first-frame still image.
  • Expo config plugin. Add react-native-splash-motion to your Expo config (development build required).
  • Built on Nitro Modules. Requires react-native-nitro-modules.

Requirements

  • React Native with the New Architecture enabled
  • iOS 15+ and Android 7+ (API 24)

Getting started

yarn add react-native-splash-motion react-native-nitro-modules
npx splash-motion generate ./splash.lottie --background "#FFFFFF"
import SplashMotion from 'react-native-splash-motion';

await SplashMotion.hide({ outro: 'outro', fade: 220 });
