argonauts-code: v0.2.2
Release Notes
Changed
- The guided setup lists Captain first and recommends it, so pressing Enter or Esc through your first start gives you Captain: the CLI you talk to does the work itself, and a crew starts only when you ask for one. Council and Orchestrator come after it. Upgrading leaves the workflow your settings name as it is, and a settings file that names none still runs Council. Running
argonauts setupagain recommends Captain too, so Enter at How the crew works moves you to Captain whatever your settings name, and a first start without a terminal takes Captain as well.

Release Notes
Added
- Summaries' "Summarize with" offers Open models: every model installed through Ollama or LM Studio with its window, whether each Ollama model fits in memory now, and a few from the catalog that would fit. It offers to start Ollama or LM Studio when it isn't running, and downloads a model through Ollama when it isn't there yet.
- Ctrl+Z suspends the app, as in Claude Code, and
fgbrings it back with its logos. - When macOS keeps a CLI out of your Desktop, Documents or Downloads folder, the screen says once which setting in System Settings lets it in.
- On Behaviors' label and by-model rows, a model shows its own line's logo, such as Claude's before Opus, rather than the logo of the CLI that runs it, and a maker shows its own logo. Each maker's galaxy takes its logo's shape.
/doctorlists each CLI's tokens beside a second count made by plainer rules, and names up to four days where the two counts are different.- The bottom line's CLIs choice in Config › Mods has a fifth choice, "the ones you pick", which opens the same picker as
/bottom-line. Picking one of the automatic choices again and saving clears your list.
Changed
- A crew workflow you chose, in a settings file, with its command or with a flag, now takes every change, small ones too, and so does
captain_or_crew.force = "crew". The main agent still answers your questions itself. - Council starts with its seats' first answers, with no readings, goal question or design step before them. Your request is the talk's first message, and the plan is the first thing you approve.
- A Council talk's token limit, 200k by default, counts what the seats write, the number the working line shows. It used to count the context each CLI reads again on every turn, so a talk could stop at its limit while the working line said far less.
- The Context tab shows each model's window from the first screen, before any session has said it, with
–for a figure no list gives yet. - Overview's Tokens lists each CLI with what its number counts, then, with more than one CLI, all of them added up.
- Only the row the keys are on, or the nearest row above where they are, shows its pick in orange. Every other pick is lavender, and the grey band is gone.
- Going down into the Behaviors map puts the pointer on its busiest place, so you can see where the keys went.
- In Behaviors,
uon Summaries adds the actions that wait, with the map's own summarizer: at once when it runs on this computer, and after asking otherwise.dswitches between the labels and Summaries. - Tokens per Day draws each CLI's models in shades of the CLI's own colour, told apart by how light they are.
- The bottom line's usage meters, and the pickers', fill their last cell only when the window is used up, so 92% no longer looks full.
- In a terminal that shows pictures, the header's mascot fills its three rows.
- The header names your home folder in full, as Claude Code does. Folders under it still start with
~/. - While
/awakekeeps the computer awake, the bottom line shows the cup alone, or the cup and the time the hold ends. - The Behaviors world moves more smoothly: 16 steps a second on a map of up to 1,100 cells, 12 on a bigger one. The universe keeps moving when nothing happened lately, and going into a galaxy no longer waits for its picture.
- Without pictures, the Behaviors map now looks like 0.1.0's map picture: each action a round braille dot, with the comparison in the picture's soft red and blue behind them.
- What the pointer says on the map, the planet and the universe is in plain words, with nothing that needs a legend.
- Sessions that only answer, such as the Council's judge, narrator and reactions and the Summaries summarizer, run with every tool turned off on Claude Code, Codex, agy and OpenCode. A CLI added through ACP or a manifest keeps its read-only flags.
Fixed
- A run started while you were in Supervised mode asks you at its approvals, a Council's plan among them. They used to take the mode your settings give, Auto by default, and the bottom line switched to Auto once the run began.
- A model set by an alias such as
opuskeeps its version, "Opus 5.5", in the header, agent rows, run rows and Council seat names. - A Council seat that is too slow or fails on its own, such as a crash or a CLI error, no longer ends the run. It sits that turn out and says so, and after a second miss the others agree without it.
- A Council talk no longer crashes the app when a bubble comes out narrower than its rounded corners.
- The note keeper's proposal in a Council talk wraps inside its bubble, and each message shows in its bubble as soon as its words do.
- A seat's view opened from the talk no longer has the talk's bubbles over it, and keeps the seat's lines and lists apart instead of running them together.
- Agent rows for the seats and for the judge auto mode asks no longer print between a Council talk's bubbles. They stay in the run's own view.
- A refused plan edit names the reviewer and the worker, not their ids.
- A failed Summaries update never empties the map. A run folder that can't be read keeps its dots and is named, and an update that would save fewer dots keeps the map and says why.
- When a Behaviors picture can't be drawn, the bottom line says so, where the map used to freeze without a word.
- A picked row under the input takes the cursor from it, and the key line shows that row's keys.
- The header and the start notices that need no CLI come with the first frame, before the CLI checks answer.
- In
/model, the memory bar follows the highlighted row at once. - In the Context tab, the row under the tabs counts a CLI's one session in the same window as the block below it, so the two figures agree.
- Summaries with a CLI's model, such as Claude Code's or Codex's, write their summaries. Their sessions now run inside the sandbox. With the sandbox on, as it is by default, the app used to refuse to start them, so every update stopped before its first summary.
- When a Summaries update stops, the line under the map says why and names the model, for example a model Ollama couldn't download. A reply with no summary in it stops the update and says what came back, where the update used to end without a word.
- On a tab with nothing to pick, such as Overview's first tab, ↓ leaves the keys on the sub-tabs, where they used to go down to a place ← and → couldn't move.
- Stats' who did what leaves room between a role's second line and the model's logo.
- The app ends when its terminal goes away even when no hangup signal comes, as when another program started it. A terminal closed right after a key, or as the first screen drew, could leave it running and using a whole core.
- On Linux, installing the npm package again after it stopped for a missing
xzno longer leaves anargonautsthat says "Permission denied".

argonauts-code: v0.2.0
Release Notes
Council is a preview in this release.
Added
- Council as a group conversation: each seat answers alone, then the seats talk one at a time until they agree on a plan, without knowing which model or CLI the others run on. You can write to the whole council or to one seat while it talks, and each task is checked by a fresh session from another maker when one is set up.
[[council.seat]]sets the seats. - Each task of a plan is done in its worker's own session, by a workflow, or by 2 to 4 agents that each take a part. The plan picks the way, a way named in your request binds, and
[crew.ways]and[council.ways]say which ways are allowed. /captain,/orchestrator,/counciland your own workflows' commands switch to that workflow, or run one request with it when you add words. A workflow that isn't ready opens its setup sheet in place of the input.- Behaviors is drawn as a world grown from your crew's records: a map whose mountains, climate and weather come from what the agents do, a planet, and a universe with a galaxy for each model maker and a system for each model. Rare things your crew does raise wonders on it. Terminals that show pictures, such as Ghostty and kitty, draw it in full, and others in braille (
behaviors.view). - Logos before each CLI's and model's name in Ghostty and kitty, and the coloured dot elsewhere.
ui.logos = "off"keeps the dots. - Who paid for the tokens: a run's end line and Overview's Tokens split them between your plans, free use such as local models, and paid use with what it cost (
ui.paid_by). - When you set no checks, the main agent can name the checks a run should pass. They hold for that run alone, run on each task and on the merge, and are saved if you ask to keep them. A recap says the checks pass only when every one ran and passed.
/resumenames the CLI that holds each session and opens it there witho, and quitting after a turn prints that CLI's own command to carry on.argonauts resume <id>finds any CLI's session by its id./bottom-lineopens a picker to choose and order the CLIs under the input, with the line as a live preview, and/bottom-line add, removeandresetchange it at once.- Stats' legends are aligned tables. Point at a model to light it in every bar, change the sort, filter with
/, and press Enter to open its details. /modellines models up in columns, and suggests the local models that fit your computer, ranked on your computer.- In Supervised and Auto preview, the agent you talk to can write outside the project once you allow it. Claude Code asks as it always does, and when Codex, OpenCode or agy is refused a write there, "Let write outside the project?" asks you.
outside.asklists these modes, and emptying it keeps them to the project. - A shell command's writes outside the project get a "wrote …, outside the project" line too, and a read or write the never-list refused says "kept out".
- Keeping the computer awake works on Linux too, through
systemd-inhibit, and a bare/awakeswitches the hold on and off. - When an update can't be put in place, the next start says why, once, and
argonauts doctoropens with the version running and what the last update check found.
Changed
- Changes you make in the app save at once, with no question about where.
save_changes_topicks the place, your global file by default, and only your global file may set it.--session,--local,--projector--globalafter a command puts that one change there, and ctrl+s in a picker keeps it for this session. A safety change still asks you to confirm. - Words that set the crew hold for that request, or save at once with "from now on". "Keep this crew?" is gone.
- A reviewer the app picks is never the task's own builder, and an approval only from a reviewer of the builder's own provider that you didn't choose no longer merges the work by itself.
- The bottom line shows the CLI the main session is on and the one you used most over the last 30 days, instead of every CLI. Another CLI joins it while a running task waits on it and it is out, down or near a limit.
- Each CLI keeps one colour everywhere, and its models are told apart by shape. OpenCode moves from green to magenta, so green, amber and red only ever mean a state.
- Run rows follow Claude Code's columns, and each state has its own mark, so none is told apart by colour alone.
- The never-list keeps agents from writing
/bin,/sbin,/lib,/lib32,/lib64and/libx32too..env.example,.env.sample,.env.templateand.env.dist, the templates projects commit, are off it; other.envfiles stay on it. - Claude Code and Codex sessions in a run start with the CLI's own memory off. The session you talk to keeps yours.
- Copies you build yourself, with
cargo install argonauts-codeorcargo build --release, now send the daily usage report too, with the same notice on first start and the same ways to stop it. A debug build never sends (see PRIVACY.md). - The daily model catalog now comes from beside the update manifests, signed with the keys that sign updates.
- The deeper Behaviors map is now called Summaries:
argonauts behaviors --deepis now--summaries, andbehaviors.map = "deeper"is now"summaries", which the app offers to change at start. ui.motion = "normal"is now"full", and the app offers to change it at start."off"joins"reduced".
Removed
ui.panel.bar, since each run row's bar now counts what sits under it. The app offers to take the line out at start.
Fixed
- A message posted to an agent while its session was starting reached no one. It now arrives at the session's next turn.
- An agent's program starts only once it is registered as an agent, so a command it runs at once can no longer pass for yours to answer an approval or change a setting.
- The "wrote …, outside the project" line shows only once the file really changed, not for a write the CLI reported but its own rules refused.
- OpenCode's context estimate counts the project's
AGENTS.md, and a task's prompt no longer points OpenCode at a file it already read. - A session that names no model is shown and priced as the model it runs, so Stats and Behaviors no longer list a CLI as a model, and its spend is no longer estimated at an older model's price.
- The crew table for a request names each model in full, as the request's start line does.
- A merge you answered before its commit message was written no longer leaves an empty "Stopped" row.
- A Ctrl+C meant for another program no longer ends the hold that keeps the computer awake.
- On Linux, the npm package says how to install
xzwhen it is missing, instead of failing to unpack.

argonauts-code: v0.1.0
Release Notes
The first public release.
Added
- Run Claude Code, Codex, agy and OpenCode as one crew, each through its own CLI, sign-in and plan.
- Workflows: Captain, Orchestrator, Council, maker-checker, best-of-n and draft-and-vote, and your own as TOML files or scripts. Ultracode puts a workflow on every request, and autopilot lets the crew answer its own questions.
- A git worktree and branch for every task, review by the reviewers you name or, by default, by another provider when your crew has one, the checks your settings set on the reviewed commit, and nothing merged without you or the rules you set.
- Approval modes from Supervised to Autopilot. In Auto and Autopilot agents read and write outside the project too, and a sandbox keeps your SSH, cloud and GPG keys,
.envfiles, browser profiles and other CLIs' logins out of every agent's reach, and system folders read-only. - Open-weight models: OpenCode on a local model writes code, and Ollama, LM Studio and other OpenAI-compatible servers review, judge and summarize.
- The workflow view, the agent panel, the bottom line with your plans' usage, Overview (
/usage,/stats,/context) and/config. - Behaviors (Overview › Behaviors): a map of what each model's agents do, one model compared with the rest, and a deeper map a local or hosted model summarizes once.
argonauts behaviorsprints the ranking and exports Hodoscope's format. /issuestarts work from a GitHub issue, and a pull request's checks and reviews are followed until it can merge.argonauts self-updateand/updatekeep Argonauts Code and your agent CLIs current, with--rollback.argonauts runfor scripts and CI,argonauts resume, argonauts doctor, and an MCP server (argonauts mcp).- One anonymous usage report a day, announced on first start and stopped with
