What's new

Automatic updates

  • Boxing Day now checks for updates with Sparkle. Choose Boxing Day > Check for Updates… to check at any time.
  • This is the first release with automatic updates, so install it manually (or deploy it with Jamf). Future versions will arrive automatically.

Cancel long-running work

  • Cancel a package build while it's running. A partially written package is removed, and you return to the package details to build again.
  • Cancel a Jamf Pro upload while it's in progress. Boxing Day tells you whether a package record was already created in Jamf Pro, and blocks retrying with a filename that's already in use.

Menus and keyboard

  • New File > Open… (⌘O) and a Package menu with Build Package… (⌘B), Upload to Jamf Pro… (⌘U), and Reveal in Finder (⇧⌘R).
  • Return triggers the primary button and Esc cancels in the upload sheet and Settings.
  • Open and save panels now attach to the window instead of blocking the whole app.

Accessibility

  • VoiceOver now describes the drop zone, offers a Choose File action, and announces build and upload progress.

Other improvements

  • Copy Error button next to Save Error as Text… for build and upload errors.
  • Boxing Day now uses a single window and quits when you close it.
  • Cards and the drop zone follow Dark Mode and Increase Contrast.
  • The upload sheet and Settings window can grow to fit larger text.
  • Choosing a category for one upload no longer changes the default category in Settings.

Fixes

  • Fixed a case where a failed disk image could have files deleted while still mounted.
  • Fixed a possible hang when a command-line tool produced a lot of error output.
  • Fixed the duplicate-package check missing filenames with leading or trailing spaces.
  • Fixed the window freezing while checking the code signature of a large app.

Requirements

  • macOS 15.0 or later.
  • Jamf Pro uploads require the same API role privileges as before: Create Packages, Read Packages, Update Packages, Read Cloud Distribution Point, and Read Categories.
