v5.3.2 - Videos That Look And Sound Right, A Calmer App
Row-Bot 5.3.2 makes its videos look like a studio made them and never lets a
silent one slip out, asks you less for the things you clearly asked for, and
makes Home and Settings calmer. It comes from a week of using Row-Bot like you
would, on Windows and a Mac, with ChatGPT and a model on this computer. From
5.3.1 it arrives through background updates.
Videos
- Made like a studio - a camera that follows what's done, the page framed
on your brand's backdrop, titles as lit slides and lower thirds, captions a
phrase at a time, and a review sheet Row-Bot checks before it says it's done. - Recordings are 1920x1080 and fill the frame: the page keeps one 16:9 size
while it records, whatever the Browser pane does. - Every shape, full size - phone (9:16) and square cuts show wide footage
whole instead of cutting words. - Voice and timing - each scene lasts until its line is said; a voice is
never slowed to fill time; several lines voiced at once no longer fail. - A video with no sound says so - in Row-Bot's own result, on the X card
you approve and in Home's scheduled posts. A cut made only from a screen
recording has no sound; a video for people to watch is made with a voice. - Checks catch waits - a recorded stretch where nothing happens after the
line is said ("Thinking...", a page loading) needs attention before it's done. - Long captions show phrase by phrase instead of being cut short.
- One ask for Row-Bot's two downloads a narrated video needs (ffmpeg and
its voice), no leftover speed badge, numbers that read as numbers, and file
names that keep their apostrophes. - Check before it posts - a post's pictures and videos open full size from
its card and from Home's scheduled posts, in a viewer that fills the window.
Browser And Sandboxes
- Paste in the Browser pane reaches the page as its own paste (sign-in code
boxes fill), and the pane's menu has Paste into the page. - Page sizes - a desktop page is a desktop window, whatever the pane's width.
- Row-Bot's own browser - offered when you have no Chrome or Edge, with its
real size; on a Mac it never asks to send you notifications. - Sandboxes - Row-Bot reuses a signed-in sandbox instead of making another,
Reset keeps its sign-in, one made from a chat on a local model uses that model,
it starts at your chat's approval level, and a new one opens signed in. The
shop has a customer inbox to answer.
Approvals That Fit The Request
- Auto judges the step - a step that only reads or checks something the
request needs runs; the reviewer reads the message you just sent. - Read-only commands - Get-Process, Import-Csv and property filters run
without asking, and on Block. - Installing software asks you - winget, Homebrew, apt and the like always
come to you, even on Auto. - After a no - the reply says what Row-Bot had already found and what it
didn't do. - New chats and workflows start on Auto, or the level you last chose.
A Calmer App
- Home - setup is optional ("Explore"), Monitor says "Everything's working"
in one line, Needs you shows only when something does, and workflow rows say
each thing once. - Settings - one theme control, quiet empty states, Import on request,
backups that skip a running chat's pieces, and Restore opens your Backups. - ChatGPT sign-in - one status line, nothing to press while Row-Bot checks,
and an expired code frees sign-in for a new one. - Setup lists the strongest model that fits your computer first.
- Library and Home fit a phone, and Home's tabs show they scroll.
- Skills - a plain note suggests no skill, and a skill that's on says so.
- Mac - the menu bar has Edit and Window menus.
Fixes
- Big files - attachments up to 200 MB attach, open and save, recordings
included, and Download saves in the desktop app. - Voice memos transcribe without ffmpeg; the speech model is asked for once.
- Long tasks on local models finish instead of stopping halfway.
- A chat opened mid-run shows each step once.
- After a restart - a turn that stopped offers Resume, and a message the
turn already read no longer waits for good. - One-off workflows run at their time, keep no notes, and "in 2 minutes"
counts down. - Pages that limit readers - Row-Bot waits and tries once more, or says the
site refused. - Windows sign-ins save again when Credential Manager is full.
- 127.0.0.1 from this computer always reaches Row-Bot.
- Phones stay connected - a phone opening Row-Bot from its home screen or
another app no longer asks you to connect again after a day; its connection
lasts its full 30 days. - From your phone - Setup says to install Ollama on Row-Bot's computer
instead of offering a download for the phone. - Your own model server - a new guide, Use Your Own Model Server, for
connecting your own Ollama or vLLM server. - One chat, one job - Row-Bot starts another conversation only when you ask.
For Hosts
- Setup code - a Row-Bot server nobody owns yet prints "Row-Bot setup code:
…" in its log at every start; open its address and enter it. Set
ROW_BOT_SETUP_CODE(12 to 64 letters or digits) to choose your own.
Changing it and restarting lets one browser back in and signs out the others.
On a server,/connectwithout an invitation opens this setup page;
row-bot access invitestill works. - Secret-store key -
ROW_BOT_SECRET_STORE_KEY(64 hex characters) hands
Row-Bot its key, taken out of its environment at start. Compose's key file
still works. A container with neither makes its own key on the data volume,
left out of Row-Bot's backups. - A wrong or missing key stops the start - if the key doesn't open the
saved secrets, or saved secrets have no key, Row-Bot stops and says what to
do. Nothing is deleted. - An exact
ROW_BOT_ALLOWED_HOSTS- Row-Bot's own start-up check and the
image's health check now pass when the list holds only the public host, as
the VPS Compose file asks;127.0.0.1no longer needs to be in it. - Kept private - on Linux, other programs of the same user can't read
Row-Bot's environment, and the image's health check runs with an empty one,
so neither shows the key or the setup code. - Sizes - Hosting Row-Bot now lists them: 4 GB memory, 2 cores and 10 GB
disk recommended; 2 GB is the minimum without local speech-to-text. - New pages - Operations › Hosting Row-Bot and Privacy And Safety › What
Your Host Can See. - No breaking change for Compose setups.
Upgrade Notes
- From 5.3.1, in the background - Row-Bot downloads 5.3.2 and says Restart
to update. - Installing software asks - a workflow on Auto that installs software
with winget, Homebrew or apt now waits for you to approve it. - Scheduled posts - check Home › Review: a scheduled video with no sound now
says so. - Servers - a Row-Bot server nobody has claimed asks for its setup code in
the browser, and a missing or wrong secret-store key stops the start (see For
Hosts).
