Galar Native v0.44

@simipoB simipoB released this 05 Nov 19:35

Download GalarNative-v0.44.apk below. It installs over v0.37 to v0.43, and keeps your save and setup.

Changes

  • Steadier 30 fps. Sword and Shield split each frame's work across the main thread and two worker threads. Android now speeds up all three when a frame runs late, not only the main one.
  • Adreno: texture fix. On Adreno, the GPU rounds one kind of texture read differently from the Switch, which can draw small dark squares or blocky edges. The app now corrects for it as each shader loads, so you don't need to run setup again. Other GPUs are unchanged.
  • Mali: the shared-memory fix from v0.43 is confirmed working. A Mali-G615 now runs the game on memory shared through Android (#47). Some of the picture now draws, but much of it is still white, and work on that continues. Please keep sending log.txt.

Known issues

  • On Mali, most scenes are still white or blank (#47, #53, #55).
  • At 60 fps the crowd in the stadium at the start of the game flickers. Use 30 fps if it bothers you.
  • The water in the Wild Area is darker than on the Switch.
  • Online features (Y-Comm, link trades, online raids) don't work.

Coming from v0.36 or older?

v0.37 and later are signed with a new key, so the old app has to be uninstalled first, and uninstalling deletes its save. To keep it:

  1. In the old app, tap Export save data and keep the ZIP somewhere outside the app, such as Downloads.
  2. Uninstall the old app and install GalarNative-v0.44.apk.
  3. Set the game up, then open Set up or manage a game → Import edited save data and pick the ZIP.

Download GalarNative-v0.43.apk below. It installs over v0.37 to v0.42, and keeps your save and setup.

Fixes

  • Mali phones: a new fix for the white picture (#47, #53, #55). Mali drivers can't share their GPU memory with the game, which is why the picture stayed white. The app now takes shared memory from Android itself and hands it to the driver, so the game and the GPU use the same memory, as on Adreno. This is a new route and hasn't been tested on a Mali phone yet, so please report back either way and attach log.txt.
    • If the driver refuses it, the app goes back to the old route by itself.
    • If the driver crashes with it, the next start uses the old route.
    • To turn it off by hand, add the line DM_VK_DMAHEAP=0 to env.txt in the game's folder (Android/data/com.nxnative.pokemonshield/files/).

Only Mali phones get this change. Nothing changes on other phones.
