Optional OTEAPI dependencies

oteapi-core and otelib are no longer hard dependencies of SOFT7. They now live in a new opt-in oteapi extra, so the core package is considerably lighter for users who only work with SOFT7 entities and entity instances.

Install the extra to use SOFT7 data sources ( s7.factories.create_datasource() ) or the SOFT7 OTEAPI plugin:

pip install 'soft7[oteapi]'

Using OTEAPI functionality without the extra raises s7.exceptions.MissingExtra, an ImportError that says how to install it. pydantic is now an explicit dependency, since it was previously only pulled in through oteapi-core.

Python support

Python 3.10 is no longer supported. SOFT7 now requires Python 3.11 or later and is tested on Python 3.14 and 3.15.

Upgrading

If you use data sources or the OTEAPI plugin, change soft7 to soft7[oteapi] in your requirements. Otherwise there are no code changes.
