@sitharaj88 sitharaj88 released this 31 Jul 20:59

GitNova 3.0.0 — Every AI model. Blazing fast.

A major release on two fronts: a ground-up multi-provider AI platform with a real chat assistant, and a deep performance overhaul of the refresh and git-process architecture.

🤖 AI

  • Multi-provider AI layer — first-class adapters for Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI / Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini, the VS Code Language Model API (Copilot), and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint with one-click presets for Ollama, LM Studio, Groq, OpenRouter, Mistral, xAI, DeepSeek, and Zhipu GLM. Streaming-first, no SDK bloat, per-provider keys in SecretStorage (legacy key migrates automatically).
  • AI Assistant chat — Claude-style chat in the sidebar or as an editor panel, grounded in your repository through safe read-only git tools (status, log, diff, show, blame, branches). Persistent per-project chat history, repo + active-file context on every turn, adaptive typewriter streaming, syntax-highlighted code, markdown tables, animated tool chips.
  • AI Review Panel — structured findings (file / line / severity) with jump-to-line, severity filters, and confirm-then-apply fix suggestions. Review staged, working-tree, or branch-vs-base changes.
  • Semantic history tools — natural-language commit search ("when did we change the auth handling?"), changelog/release-notes generation between refs, and AI branch name suggestions.
  • Streaming everywhere — explain, review, changelog, and Repo Doctor analysis stream token-by-token with a Stop button.
  • GitNova: Select AI Model picker with live model listing + a status bar model indicator.

⚡ Performance

  • Coalesced refresh pipeline — one scoped, debounced refresh per change instead of every view refetching on every save; hidden views skip work until reopened.
  • Removed the workspace-wide file watcher that ran git status for every file event (builds, npm install, test output).
  • Git result caching with in-flight deduplication and precise invalidation.
  • ~10× fewer git processes — tags via one for-each-ref (was 2 per tag), branches in one process, commit details in one git show (was three), HEAD via rev-parse, and no index locking on reads.
  • Faster activation — single cheap repo validation, lazy webview construction, deferred services, CodeLens only when enabled, auto-refresh paused while unfocused.

🌳 Git

  • Real branch ahead/behind + upstream tracking in the branches and overview views (previously always 0).
  • Commit graph redesigned — continuous colored branch rails with rounded merge/fork curves, incremental "Load more", and instant search.
  • All webviews hardened with CSP + nonces; slim themed scrollbars throughout.

🐛 Fixed

  • commit.create ignored the message passed by the commit template wizard.
  • Custom OpenAI base URLs were silently ignored.
  • Saving an AI API key now offers to switch the active provider immediately.

v2.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@sitharaj88 sitharaj88 released this 31 Jul 20:59

GitNova 2.1.0 — History rewriting & visual interactive rebase

✨ Added

  • History rewriting commands — Cherry-pick, Revert, Amend, Reset (soft/mixed/hard), Squash, and Fixup, from the palette or the Commit History context menu.
  • Visual Interactive Rebase — drag-and-drop todo editor with per-commit pick/reword/squash/fixup/drop and inline message editing.
  • Operation recovery UX — continue/skip/abort commands for rebase and merge, plus a status bar warning with a quick-pick while an operation is in progress.
  • Built-in merge editor integration — "Resolve in Merge Editor" opens conflicts in VS Code's native 3-way editor.
  • Native diff editors for staged/unstaged changes, commits, and comparisons.
  • Create Pull Request — guided in-editor flow with optional AI-generated description.
  • Autolinks — configurable rules turning issue references (#123) into clickable links.
  • Status bar blame and configurable inline annotation templates.

🐛 Fixed

  • Rebase/merge in-progress detection never matched; merge continue/abort failed once conflicts were staged.
  • showStatusBar, autoRefresh, and refreshInterval settings are now honored.
  • Blame annotations read the documented gitNova.blame.* settings.
  • Conflicted files opened from merge flows resolved against the wrong path.

🧹 Removed

  • 12 dead settings that were declared but never read; unused React/Zustand webview pipeline (smaller install).
