Backward incompatibility

Deprecations

New additions

  • snow dbt execute now accepts the check and clone commands. These previously failed with a CLI "No such command" error.
  • snow sql accepts !set quiet=true and !set quiet=false. quiet=true hides query results on the terminal, including the elapsed-time footer, and still appends them to an open !spool file. Errors still print. Leaving quiet unset shows results. An empty !set quiet= is rejected and does not change the current setting. --silent is unchanged.
  • snow feedback is now generally available.

Fixes and improvements

  • Upgraded the Python interpreter embedded in Linux binaries from 3.12.15 to 3.12.16.
  • Upgraded GitPython from 3.2.0 to 3.2.1.
  • Upgraded snowflake-connector-python from 4.7.5 to 4.8.1.
  • snow streamlit deploy revokes WITH GRANT OPTION when with_grant_option is removed from a Streamlit grant in snowflake.yml. The privilege itself stays in place.
  • snow streamlit deploy --legacy now always runs on the warehouse runtime and rejects any other runtime_name. A versioned deploy that omits runtime_name leaves the runtime unset, and applies container-only settings for a compute_pool only when creating a new app.
  • snow app version drop works with both sync and async drops and says the drop may take a few minutes.
  • snow app setup warns when an application service with the same name already exists in the resolved database and schema, because deploying the project would replace that app. --dry-run shows the warning too, and --format json reports it as app_exists. Setup still completes, so you can deploy over the existing app on purpose.
  • Auto-upgrade follows the opt-in in cli.auto_upgrade or SNOWFLAKE_CLI_AUTO_UPGRADE. It no longer also requires the ENABLE_SNOW_AUTO_UPGRADE feature flag. --no-auto-upgrade is listed in snow --help.
