v0.2.2

Copy what you see, without the frame. A mouse selection in tmui takes the borders and columns with it; these keys copy only the content, as plain text:

  • y on a row copies its value (a session's name, session:index, a pane's id, a plugin row's url), Y the whole row, tab-separated.
  • In a pane's output, v starts a line selection, j k g G extend it and y copies it; y with no selection copies the whole output, not only what is on screen.
  • z shows the output alone on the screen, no frame, for your terminal's own mouse selection.

The text goes to the terminal's clipboard (OSC 52, or tmux load-buffer -w inside tmux) and to pbcopy, wl-copy, xclip or clip.exe when the machine has one.

Plugins can no longer bind y or Y; none of the published ones did.

tmui upgrade replaces tmui with the latest release, the way install.sh put it there: it reads which release is latest, downloads the archive for this machine, checks it against that release's SHA-256 and swaps the binary in one rename. It then prints the new release's notes.

tmui upgrade # to the latest release
tmui upgrade --check # only say whether there is one
tmui upgrade --version v0.2.0 # this release, older ones too

A tmui installed by Homebrew is left to brew upgrade, and when tmui cannot write to its own directory it prints the install line that can.

tmui takes plugins now, keeps its settings in a file, and draws its logo in the header.

Plugins. A plugin is one plugin.json that brings another CLI into tmui: a view that turns a command's output into a table (gh pr list --json …, docker ps, kubectl get pods), keys on its rows and on your panes, and : commands. Install one by name from sophonz-labs/tui-plugins:

tmui ext install gh-prs

The installer prints every command the plugin will run and asks before it writes anything. :ext lists what is installed, and a plugin can never take one of tmui's own keys. Six plugins to start: gh-prs, gh-runs, docker-ps, kubectl-pods, git-status, lazygit.

Settings. ~/.config/tmui/config.yaml, as k9s keeps its own: the logo, the header, colour, the refresh rate, the first view, and plugins on or off. tmui config edit makes the file with every default in it, :config shows what is in effect, and tmui reads the file again when you save it. ctrl-e hides the header, :logo the logo.

The logo sits at the top right of the header from 116 columns and 20 rows; below that, the name.

tmui installs with one line now:

curl -fsSL https://dl.sophonz.io/tmui/install.sh | sh

The installer picks the build for your OS and CPU, checks it against the release's SHA-256 sums, and puts tmui in ~/.local/bin (TMUI_INSTALL_DIR to change it, TMUI_VERSION to pin a release). Nothing else changed since v0.1.0.

First release.

  • Sessions, windows and panes of a tmux server in one screen, refreshed every 2 seconds.
  • A pane's output (its last 2000 lines) in a pager, with / search and n/N.
  • Make, rename and kill sessions and windows; split and kill panes.
  • a attaches and comes back: outside tmux, detach with prefix d; inside tmux 3.2+, the session opens in a full-size popup and prefix d closes it.
  • :tmux <args> runs any tmux command on the same server.
  • -L and -S pick the server, as tmux does.
