Fixes

  • Gap-mode scans no longer fail with "Data DB is corrupted" (#279). When an account in the first batch had funds, extending the scan to more accounts could stop with "importing account N: Data DB is corrupted: the Sapling note commitment tree retains checkpoints…". Argos now rebuilds the scan database with every account instead of adding accounts to one that has already been scanned. A scan that previously failed this way resumes and completes.
  • The account-count setting works (#280). With "Keep scanning until no more funds are found" turned off, the number of accounts can now be set. Previously the slider was greyed out in that mode.
  • Transparent-only wallet files show the right status (#267). The banner about the full shielded sync no longer appears for a wallet that has no shielded keys.
  • More checks before a scan or sweep starts:
    • a seed phrase is refused while a wallet file is loaded (#255);
    • the server URL is checked, and the chain-tip warning shown, before a Sprout scan sweep (#259);
    • comments and blank lines are skipped in the Sprout key box (#258).
  • Birthday auto-detect works from a loaded wallet file's recovery phrase (#257).

Recovery coverage

  • Seed phrases of 12, 15, 18 and 21 words are accepted, as well as 24 (#252).
  • zcashd 5.x wallets: the seed is verified against the file, and the import reports how complete the stored keys are (#230).
  • zcashd wallet.dat birthdays can start from genesis, with a decryption skip for dated Sprout keys (#274).
  • ZecWallet Lite files that mix a recovery phrase with separately imported keys now recover the funds on both (#275).
  • The Sprout scan can start from a raw spending key alone (#273).

Safety

  • Sprout blocks from peers are authenticated against the block header, so a peer can no longer hide or alter Sprout transactions (#265). Sprout recovery also handles chain reorganizations (#272).
  • Broadcasts are tied to what you reviewed:
    • a sweep only sends the transactions and fees shown on the review screen (#271, #276);
    • every broadcast is recorded durably.
  • Saved Sprout sweeps are tracked until they are mined. A sweep that was accepted but never mined is no longer treated as done (#277).
  • NU7 warning: Sprout users are warned about the NU7 network upgrade, after which Sprout funds can no longer be moved (#263).
