v1.3.1 — Unknown config keys no longer crash the daemon

Fixes a startup crash after config files gain keys the running version does not know.

The bug

Loading the config passed every key in config.toml straight into the settings constructors. A config written by a newer Vice, or any stray key, took the daemon down with a TypeError before it could even log properly. In practice: if v1.3.0 (or a newer build) ever saved your config and you then launched an older Vice, the older daemon crashed at startup.

What changed

Unknown config keys are now ignored with a logged warning, the same way the settings API already handled them. Your settings are otherwise untouched.

Updating

  • Arch: yay -Syu vice-clipper
  • Manual installs: git pull and rerun ./install.sh

If you are stuck on an older version that will not start, remove the unrecognized lines named in the error from ~/.config/vice/config.toml (for 1.2.x after a 1.3.0 touch: microphone_source and audio_tracks_mix_first), then update.
