What's Changed

This release stops a Tesla Powerwall holding its charge, and the house importing from the grid, in the run-up to a planned export. It also fixes Octopus GO off-peak times after the clocks change, makes the marginal energy cost sensors count the value of energy left in the battery, and fixes Predheat ignoring temperature history. The discovery catalogue now covers more integrations and shows identifiers in full.

Plan and battery behaviour

  • Teslemetry: the Powerwall no longer holds the battery before an export. With signal-tariff control (teslemetry_tbc_control, the default), the export window's high price was sent to the Powerwall as soon as the window was planned. In the gap before it started, Tesla's own optimiser saved the battery for that sale and the house imported from the grid, while Predbat showed the battery covering the house. The export price is now sent only once the window has started. Export can start up to about a minute later than the window as a result. If you turned teslemetry_tbc_control off, nothing changes. @springfall2008 in #5961, fixes #5960
  • Octopus: off-peak times are right again after a clock change. On a local-time tariff (GO, or a tariff code Predbat doesn't recognise) where the off-peak window comes from your meter's own readings, every night was placed an hour early for about a week after the clocks went back on 25 October. The meter's readings are now read on its own clock. Economy 7, Intelligent GO and anyone who sets octopus_night_times were not affected. @chalfontchubby in #5794
  • Marginal energy cost sensors count the energy left in the battery. sensor.predbat_marginal_energy_costs and the marginal rate cheap/moderate flags priced extra load without the value the planner gives to energy still in the battery at the end of the plan. So load that would use up stored energy could look almost free and show as cheap. It is now priced the way the planner prices it. Expect battery-covered load to show as moderate more often. baseline_metric is now net of stored energy's value and can be negative. @chalfontchubby in #5756, fixes #5107
  • Predheat uses your temperature history without a heating energy sensor. With no heating_energy entity, or one with no history, valid indoor, outdoor and thermostat history was ignored and the forecast fell back to a 20°C target. @liambresnahan in #5867

Web UI

  • /entity history table shows a new value straight away. The top row could lag the current value by up to 5 minutes. @springfall2008 in #5913

Discovery catalogue

The discovery catalogue is the list of devices, accounts and forecasts Predbat finds. It appears on the /discovery web page, in sensor.predbat_discovery and in debug dumps. Reporting to it is observe-only: it changes no control or configuration.

  • Identifiers are now shown in full. Hardware serials, MPANs, account numbers, site and system ids, charger ids and location fields are no longer pseudonymised. Only credentials and email addresses are withheld. A debug dump now contains your serials, MPAN and account ids, so think before posting one publicly. @springfall2008 in #5924
