v2.23.5 - Maintenance Update
Pre-releaseThis is a maintenance release with bug fixes, security hardening, and dependency updates. No new app features.
What's new in this version:
v2.23.5
- Fixed saved window bounds overriding explicit CLI/deep-link dimensions, including values equal to the defaults.
- Fixed losing the pending normal window position when minimizing, maximizing, or entering fullscreen immediately after a move/resize.
- Fixed recovery of global shortcuts when another Electron Capture process exits; focus the remaining window to retry registration.
- Removed the electron-is-dev dependency and fixed the minimatch/glob build-tool findings.
- Fixed title changes being ignored when reusing an existing capture window.
- Fixed window sizing after leaving fullscreen, while preserving fullscreen when it is still requested.
- Fixed Linux windows losing their pinned state during fullscreen/restore transitions and corrected minimized fullscreen startup.
- Fixed restoring a window while an editing dialog is open overriding its temporary unpinned state.
- Improved cleanup when closing capture windows so repeated open/close cycles do not retain those window references.
- Hardened access to fetch streams between windows and verification of downloaded/local runtime archives; applied dependency maintenance updates.
- Corrected Linux package dependencies for audio, graphics, and keyring libraries, with clean-install and removal checks.

The macOS download is universal, signed with Developer ID, and notarized by Apple. Windows builds use a self-signed certificate and may show a trust warning. Windows ARM64 does not include ASIO or the custom x64 WebRTC patches.

Testing, known limitations, and build details
Validation: All seven release CI jobs passed and all 26 platform packages were uploaded after verification. Current-build checks include 22 regression suites; native Linux x64/ARM64 geometry, pinning, visibility, fullscreen and minimize/restore workflows; window reuse, dialogs, renderer/IPC isolation and closed-window cleanup; packaged recordings; Linux installation/removal; Windows signatures and installer replacement/rollback; and macOS signatures, notarization and package verification.
Earlier native testing passed 45 Mac scenarios / 529 assertions and 45 Linux scenarios / 508 assertions; the refreshed build results are recorded in validation.json. An earlier Mac snapshot was verified on Apple Silicon and under Rosetta, including signatures, notarization, Gatekeeper, security fuses, archive integrity, and beta.3 profile upgrade. A ten-minute generated-media recording passed on the earlier tested snapshot; that earlier Mac app passed a separate 60-second recording with a 5 ms final audio/video offset.
Known limitations:
-
Windows sustained recording memory growth on v43 and initial video gaps remain under investigation. Earlier hour-long recordings decoded completely and retained A/V sync, but do not establish bounded memory. v39 adaptive-resolution/extended-delay limits and v43 low-bitrate fixed-resolution stalls remain documented.
-
Linux bare Electron also reproduced approximately 200 ms startup audio delay; no speculative app audio retiming is applied.
-
OBS Virtual Camera produced duplicate video timestamps on Mac, also reproduced in a bare Electron control without the app's code. One earlier recording during concurrent startup testing failed the timing threshold; the final isolated recording passed. These findings remain documented.
-
Physical device reconnect, mixed-DPI setups, broader compositor/Wayland behavior, subjective media quality, and multi-hour sessions still need dedicated testing. ARMv7 packages are cross-built without ARMv7 hardware execution; Rosetta checks do not replace physical Intel Mac testing.
-
Two extract-zip build-tool dependency advisories remain unfixed; minimatch/glob findings are fixed. Their release-specific exception expires December 4, 2026; production and native lockfiles are audited separately.
-
The custom Windows x64 runtimes retain known Chromium security limitations. Runtime pins are unchanged: Windows 10 x64
39.8.10-qp20, Windows 11 x6443.3.0-qp20, and official Electron43.8.7on the other platforms.

This release supersedes the earlier 2.23.4 snapshot, which remains available separately.
Latest all-platform refresh — November 5, 2026
All 26 packages were rebuilt from 1aa73c48c075b2b94e110295bca53853d1d049d5, including the window-geometry fixes, and replaced together. The application version remains 2.23.5, and GitHub's prerelease flag remains enabled for manual promotion. If you downloaded an earlier 2.23.5 build, download it again; the checksums have changed.
All seven build/verification jobs passed. After publication, the public Linux x64 AppImage was downloaded again, launched directly, and its extracted application checked for startup, application identity, renderer isolation, explicit and remembered geometry, pending position saves across state transitions, and shortcut recovery between processes. A fresh 60-second generated-media recording was decoded and checked for completeness and A/V timing. Detailed results and exact package hashes are in validation.json.
Mac signing/notarization, Windows signatures and installer replacement/rollback, all Linux package payloads, and native Linux x64/ARM64 runtime checks passed in CI. Earlier extensive hardware reports remain historical evidence for their identified snapshots, not new execution of these replacement binaries.
