Stoner 0.12.0a3

Stoner 0.12.0a3 extends the plotting accessor with stonerplots 1.9.8 contexts and consistent style overrides.

Changes

• Expose Data.plot.OffsetPlots, DoubleXAxis and DoubleXYAxis, also available from Stoner.plot, alongside DoubleYAxis.
• Accept comma-separated stylesheet names and extra= rcParams overrides in Data.plot.style. Defaults and override precedence match SavedFigure; dictionaries, mixed lists, style files and after_reset remain supported.
• Add guide/API documentation, executable examples, cached illustrations and integration regressions covering masks, error bars, source preservation, independent scales and context restoration.
• Update the existing style examples and correct cookbook/image-guide calls and FMR annotation coordinates. The full FMR workflow is now included in rendered-example checks.
• Include the analysis-script API alignment since 0.12.0a2, covering transport, PCAR, VSM, BNL, diffraction and image workflows.
• Preserve Boolean TIFF values and dtype metadata under Pillow 13's stricter mode validation. Test environments now require modern pytest-xdist/pytest-forked releases for current Python/pytest combinations.

Requirements and compatibility

Python 3.12 or newer and stonerplots 1.9.8 or newer are required. The pandas/xarray storage contracts and Axes return values are unchanged from 0.12.0a2.

CSV layout forwarding through fitting INI configuration remains deferred under issue #41; direct CSV loader options remain available. Native GenX/wxPython and interactive instrument/application workflows have not been certified by the headless tests.

Local validation

• Windows Python 3.14 with Pillow 13: 1,396 tests passed, with three expected failures for issue #41, including all 82 rendered documentation examples.
• Supported lower-dependency environments exercised the new contexts, plotting examples and style wrapper.
• Cached Sphinx HTML: 62 reviewed warnings, zero new warnings and no lost API entries. Existing plot caches were retained.

Hosted validation

All gates target the immutable release source 92fd4f3baef3df5ff2f9f5144188edd94ef6de7b:

• Linux/macOS test matrix.
• Supported lower dependencies: 1,395 passed, one expected skip and three expected failures.
• Fresh installed wheel/sdist checks on Python 3.12 and 3.14, including the new contexts and style wrapper.
• Cached Sphinx documentation build.

Publication

• PyPI wheel and sdist are public; the published wheel passed the installed-package probe outside the checkout.
• PyPI/Conda deployment passed, including Conda's installed import/version test and verified upload of noarch/stoner-0.12.0a3-py_0.conda to phygbu.
• Release documentation CI and Read the Docs build 35393219 passed. The versioned documentation is active and published.
• Automatic tag verification also passed all Linux/macOS matrix cells; lower-dependency and package checks passed again for the tag. No release gate was waived.
