TeleFlock v0.7.0

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 30 Oct 08:52

TeleFlock 0.7.0 is built for agents that work while you sleep: they pick up again after usage limits, survive herdr restarts, crashes and reboots, and can answer their own questions when you say so. It also adds a dozen new tools around the board, the session and your hosts.

Updating from 0.6.x or older: apps from v0.2.0 to v0.6.1 never checked for updates by themselves (a bug fixed in this release). Open Settings → Updates → Check for updates once. From 0.7.0 on, automatic updates work again: the app downloads a new version in the background and installs it once TeleFlock has been in the background for 20 seconds (hidden, minimized or unfocused, and Quick capture not in use); while you are using it you get "TeleFlock vX is ready" with Restart now. The host daemon (tf-hostd) changed, so the first device that updates restarts it once; your agents keep running. Agents that were already running keep the previous TeleFlock bridge loaded until their omp process restarts (for example Mark done and then Resume; F5 alone does not reload it), so auto-resume after usage limits and the other overnight features cover them from then on. Some new features need a 0.7.0 host: older hosts tell you to update them.

Overnight runs

  • Auto-resume after usage limits. When an agent or its subagents stop on a provider usage or rate limit after omp's own retries, the host schedules a resume for when a limit window reopens (counting every account omp can switch to), then continues the subagents and the agent where they stopped, without a new prompt. Provider overloads and server errors are resumed too, with a growing pause (15, 30, then 60 minutes) and the words "Overloaded" or "Provider error" instead of "Rate limit". The limit errors are kept out of what the model sees afterwards. Works with no app connected; the card shows when it resumes, with Resume now and Don't auto-resume (Settings → Auto-resume to turn it off per host).
  • While omp still retries, an agent shows "Rate limit · retrying in 4:54 (1/10)" instead of looking quiet or asking you to "answer in the terminal". Repeated limit errors fold into one row.
  • Decide for me. If a question waits longer than you choose, the host picks omp's ★ recommended option — per agent, per Dispatch message, per automation or as a host default, optionally only while no TeleFlock app is connected. Approvals and plan reviews are never answered for you.
  • Resume (or F5) continues an agent you stopped, or one whose turn failed, without a new prompt, like omp's own F5. Failed subagents have Retry.

Nothing lost when something crashes

  • herdr health. The host notices within seconds when herdr stops or crashes, tells you instead of showing stale "running" cards, and starts it again with a growing pause. A herdr that keeps dying right after it starts is left alone after three tries and the host tells you; Restart herdr is always there.
  • Agents come back. When herdr stops or crashes, an omp ends or the host restarts, agents no longer vanish: each stays on the board as an ended card saying what happened and what it was doing, and is relaunched under its name, in its folder, with its model and settings, even with no app connected. A turn that was cut off continues when its last step is safe to repeat (a reply being written is written again); a command that may have run already is never run again by itself: the agent is told what happened and checks first. An ended card shows when it comes back; Continue brings it back at once.
  • What doesn't come back by itself: an omp you stopped yourself (for example with kill), an agent that ended more than three times in ten minutes ("keeps crashing"), and an agent that ended before omp saved its first reply. They stay as ended cards until you press Continue; the last kind keeps its prompt and images on the card, and Continue starts it again with them.
  • After a reboot the host brings agents back through a small boot service, installed once there are agents to bring back. It needs systemd (Linux, as root or with lingering enabled for your user); the setting says when a host can't have one, as on macOS and Windows hosts, where agents come back once the host daemon runs again. Turn it off per host in Settings → Auto-resume → Bring agents back after a reboot.
  • Sturdier saved state: the host's card, ticket and recovery files are flushed to disk on every save, and a file the host can't read is moved aside (.bad-…) for inspection before it starts over. If the auto-resume settings file is damaged, auto-resume and bringing agents back after a reboot stay off on that host until you turn them on again.
  • herdr updates without restarts. A newly installed herdr is loaded into the running server by live handoff once the host has been idle for a while (20 minutes by default, and on Linux only while no herdr window is open), so agents and terminals keep running. When only a restart would load it, the host shows "herdr update ready" and waits for you to press Restart herdr.

In the session

  • Errors that say what happened: failed requests show their message and status, provider refusals (for example a cyber safety refusal) their category and explanation, and omp's warnings and fallback notices appear in the transcript. omp's xd:// mount notice no longer floods the chat.
  • Large pastes become attachments, with omp's choice of an attachment block, a file the agent reads on demand, or inline text (up to 16 pastes per draft). A pasted log or path that starts with / is sent as text, not run as a command.
  • Find (Ctrl+F) across the transcript, tool output included; Past sessions searches the text of every session.
  • Inspector: the btw side question moved up under Session; background jobs with output and Stop; the session's documents (plans, reports, handoffs, subagent outputs; "Docs" on the phone); Context X-ray with compact-with-focus (dropping images asks first).
  • Subagents that finished collapse into a group and show green or red by their real outcome (they no longer turn blue). One that a crash cut off shows grey Stopped, not Done; the label replaces "Aborted", and the group reads "N done · N stopped".
  • Model roles for one agent: set every role's model, and fallback chains, for a single agent at launch or while it runs, without touching the host's settings (needs a 0.7.0 host). The omp settings page has a guided editor for Retry Fallback Chains (Model → Retry & Fallback).

Board, Dispatch and capture

  • Review and Done cards show omp's recap of where the agent stands.
  • Make it green runs omp's /green on a failing pull request; Rebase and resolve hands conflicts to the agent.
  • Dispatch Auto also weighs how much of the model's subscription window each host has left.
  • Quick capture sends a task, a screenshot or an answer from any app. It opens from the tray, from teleflock://capture or from a global shortcut that is off until you set one in Settings (Ctrl+Alt+Space, or Cmd+Shift+Space on macOS, is suggested). On Android, share text, links, screenshots or GitHub issues to TeleFlock.

Hosts

  • Move an agent to another host, with its worktree changes, session, subagents and documents. A step that fails rolls back what the move did, and when it can't yet tell whether the agent started on the other host, it keeps the agent parked here and waits until it knows instead of guessing. A move is refused while background jobs run or another live agent works in the target checkout and files would change, and "Try again" after a rollback reopens on the agent that was resumed.
  • Make this host like that one: copy omp settings, model roles and MCP servers after a preview of every difference (omp ≥ 18.13.3); sign-ins optionally, encrypted between the hosts.
  • Clean up: worktrees with pull request state, size and age, bulk removal of merged and stale ones with the usual safety checks, omp storage cleanup without touching sessions, and a low-disk warning. Folders that are missing are never removed in bulk (one at a time, with a confirm), symlinked paths are recognised, the confirms say that files git ignores are deleted too, and a merged or closed pull request only counts when it ended at the worktree's HEAD.
  • Skills and plugins page next to MCP servers; GitHub CLI sign-in from the app; Host setup checks git's name and email and offers updating herdr's omp integration.
  • Notifications: native on Linux and macOS; the host notifies the device you are using first and the others if nobody answers; with no app connected it can push to ntfy, Pushover or a webhook.

Usage and fun

  • The Usage page reads omp's own usage index, now kept up to date by the host: complete history in your time zone by model, provider, project and agent type, cache hit rate, speed, top tools, streaks and records. The sync keeps going as long as it makes progress; the background warm-up is off on Windows and skipped on Linux laptops running on battery.
  • Flock Wrapped: your week on one shareable card.
  • Wall (2×2 or 3×3 live transcripts) and Ambient mode (one orb per agent) for spare screens.

Fixed

  • Automatic updates never ran (since v0.2.0): the background check sent a malformed settings request and silently counted updates as off.
  • A session's transcript could freeze while the agent kept working when omp cut an emoji in half in subagent progress; such text is now repaired, and a stalled feed reloads itself.
  • WSL and SSH hosts whose login shell is nushell (or fish, tcsh and others) failed to connect with "Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string"; commands now reach only a POSIX shell, and deterministic failures stop retrying and offer Copy diagnostics. (With csh or tcsh a PATH set only in .login is not picked up; use .cshrc or .tcshrc.)
  • The tray animation igno...

TeleFlock v0.6.1

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 29 Oct 10:03

TeleFlock 0.6.1 replaces a withdrawn tokio release that could crash the app or the host daemon, and keeps closed sessions closed.

Fixed

  • Possible crashes in the app and the host daemon. TeleFlock 0.5.0 through 0.6.0 were built with tokio 1.54.0, which its authors have since withdrawn: a race between a repeating timer and the runtime could free memory that was still in use, leading to panics or memory corruption (GHSA-5wjr-9356-4wc8). The app and tf-hostd both run such timers all the time (link pings, session feeds, cache writes, the tray animation), so both now use tokio 1.54.1, which fixes it.
  • A closed session stays closed. Closing a session while its saved copy was still loading, for example while the host was still connecting, could leave it marked open. The next connection then subscribed to it again, and its updates kept arriving in the background for a view nobody had open. A close now wins over an open that is still loading the saved copy or waiting for the host's answer.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) changed, so the first device that updates restarts it once; your agents keep running.

TeleFlock v0.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 29 Oct 08:11

TeleFlock 0.6.0 attaches to omp natively, so busy sessions with dozens of subagents stay live. Sessions are cached on your devices, and the link to your hosts carries only what changed. It also adds MCP server management with remote OAuth sign-in, subscription accounts you can link from the app, and a pass over first-run, layout and speed.

New

  • Native attach to omp. TeleFlock now follows each omp session through the TeleFlock bridge, an extension running inside omp. It streams the live session (messages, tools, subagents at any depth, questions and approvals) to the host daemon over a private local socket and takes every control back. The history is read straight from omp's session file. Before, TeleFlock joined omp's collab room, which omp closed whenever a busy session (many subagents) queued too many updates, so the session view kept saying "no such room". Updates are now merged at the source and the stream resynchronizes itself instead of ever dropping the session. Sessions without the new bridge (an omp started before this update, or without the extension) still attach through collab.

  • Sessions cached on your devices. Every session you open is kept in a compressed cache. Opening it again shows it at once, even while the host is still connecting. Reopening, reconnecting or restarting the app fetches only the rows that changed, and the link to the host is zstd-compressed. On a real 3.5 MB session, a cached re-open moved 3 KB instead of 477 KB, and a reconnect mid-stream 3 KB instead of 475 KB.

  • MCP servers in the app. A new MCP servers page per host, next to omp settings. It lists every MCP server omp loads there, with live status and tool counts. You can:

    • add servers from popular templates, the Smithery registry or by hand (stdio, HTTP, SSE);
    • edit them with their secrets masked;
    • test them, switch them off and on, or remove them.

    Running sessions reload the change or say they need a restart.

  • MCP sign-in from anywhere. A server that needs an OAuth login signs in from the app even when omp runs on a remote machine. TeleFlock opens the sign-in page on your device and carries the redirect back to the host on the same port. When that port is busy on your device, paste the address you landed on instead.

  • Subscription accounts. A new Accounts page per host shows the subscriptions and API keys omp signs in with: ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Gemini and the rest. Each account shows its plan, live sessions and quota windows, with a pace warning before one runs out. Link account runs omp's own login on the host and brings the sign-in to your device: a browser page (the redirect comes back through a tunnel), a device code, or a code to paste. You can also prefer an account for new sessions, re-link an expired login or unlink one. A host with no usable account says so on the board.

  • The session view says what's going on. When a session isn't live, it tells you why (starting, loading, bridge reconnecting, room closed, collab fallback) and since when. It always offers the terminal, and keeps the transcript visible while the link comes back.

Fixed

  • Pasted images were attached twice on Windows and Android: the webview listed a pasted screenshot twice, and both copies were attached.
  • Rows stay the same after a host daemon restart. Who sent a prompt, tool arguments and durations no longer change or disappear, and finished subagents keep their real run time.
  • Prompts that start a new run are no longer marked as steers, and task cards no longer say subagents are still running after they finished.

Better

  • First run: it says what a host needs (herdr and omp) at a glance. The demo can be left or turned into your own host from the board, and "Try the demo" is visible on phones without scrolling.
  • One notice box on the board instead of stacked banners; on phones it folds into one row.
  • Host setup now recommends installing the TeleFlock bridge for every session; collab sharing is the fallback.
  • Long transcripts open about 25 % faster and scroll without the scrollbar jumping.
  • Layout:
    • toasts no longer cover the composer's send button or the Dispatch composer;
    • the phone tab bar lights the right tab on the new pages;
    • the omp settings, MCP servers and Accounts pages share one layout;
    • command-line flags render as code.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) and the TeleFlock bridge changed. The first device that updates restarts the daemon once; your agents keep running. Agents that were already running keep the bridge they loaded and are followed through collab as before until they restart; new agents, and every session once you apply Install the TeleFlock bridge for every omp session in Host setup, use the new bridge. Apps older than 0.6.0 keep working with the new daemon, without the cache and compression.

TeleFlock v0.5.3

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 27 Oct 16:06

TeleFlock 0.5.3 makes Delete worktree leave the repository's other worktrees alone.

Fixed

  • Delete worktree touches only that worktree. When a Done card's worktree folder was already gone (deleted by hand, or on a disk that isn't mounted), 0.5.2 cleaned up with git worktree prune. That also dropped git's record of every other worktree of the repository whose folder was missing at that moment, such as one on an unmounted disk. Now only that worktree's own record is removed, and a locked worktree is refused instead of forgotten.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) changed, so the first device that updates restarts it once; your agents keep running.

TeleFlock v0.5.2

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 27 Oct 15:22

TeleFlock 0.5.2 fixes Delete worktree on Done cards.

Fixed

  • Delete worktree works on Done cards. In 0.5.1 the button only showed while the worktree's herdr workspace was still open. Mark done closes that workspace 10 s later, so the button disappeared from almost every Done card. Done cards now remember the worktree they ran in. Once its pull request is merged or closed, Delete worktree (on the card or in its ⋯ menu) removes the checkout and keeps the branch, and the card stays in Done with its transcript. This also works for cards marked done before the update.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) changed, so the first device that updates restarts it once; your agents keep running. Apps still on 0.5.1 work with an updated host but don't show the button on closed Done cards.

TeleFlock v0.5.1

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 27 Oct 14:14

TeleFlock 0.5.1 makes hosts work on slow machines and inside WSL, lets TeleFlock install what a host is missing, and adds video attachments, images pasted into the terminal, password and key sign-in for SSH hosts, repository chips on the board and dictation on Android. The app is also much lighter on slow laptops.

Fixed

  • New session, tree navigation and branching work again. When the "TeleFlock bridge for every session" fix had been applied once, omp loaded two copies of the TeleFlock extension (an old global copy next to TeleFlock's own), and New session failed about one time in three with "could not capture the session command context". Copies in one omp process now agree on one, only the newest talks to the host, and the host keeps a global copy you installed up to date. Agents that are already running are routed to the newest copy they have.
  • omp is found the way your terminal finds it. tf-hostd now runs with the PATH of your interactive shell, so an omp installed with bun (or npm, nvm, cargo, mise) no longer fails with "/usr/bin/env: 'bun': No such file or directory" when checking for updates, changing settings or applying Host setup fixes, and Test connection finds herdr and omp where they really are.
  • Host setup fixes no longer block each other. Every ticked fix runs even when another one fails, and each shows its own outcome, so "TeleFlock bridge for every session" is applied even if "Share sessions" can't be.
  • Connect works while the agent is working, and no longer claims "an overlay or dialog is open in the omp TUI" when none is: the check now reads omp 18.13's screen correctly (checked against 94 real captures).
  • New agents start on slow machines. A fresh pane's shell gets up to 45 s to become ready (it got 2 s, which slow WSL laptops with heavy shell startup files missed: "not an available shell"), omp gets 90 s to start, and the app waits up to 3 minutes for a launch.
  • Sessions connect on busy hosts. When joining a session times out, the host retries with growing timeouts for as long as omp shares it, and resets a room whose joins keep timing out (one resumed session had failed to connect for 27 hours). The session view shows why it is still connecting and offers Retry now.
  • Connections survive sleep. Waking a laptop no longer drops a healthy host connection (and every open terminal with it), and switching back to the app no longer tears down a host that is merely busy.
  • WSL agents stay up between reconnects. Windows stops a WSL distro about 15 s after the last Windows program using it exits, taking the agents with it. TeleFlock now keeps the distro running while the app runs, also while it reconnects. To keep agents running after you quit TeleFlock, set instanceIdleTimeout=-1 under [general] in %UserProfile%\.wslconfig (see the README).
  • Multi-line pastes stay one paste in the terminal. Pasting several lines into omp in the terminal view submitted the first line; text now arrives as one bracketed paste.
  • Drag and drop works in the desktop app. Tauri's own drag-and-drop handler swallowed every file dropped on the composer or Dispatch.
  • Phone layout. Rows, tiles, the composer toolbar (the send button was pushed off screen while the agent worked), the session header and several settings screens no longer run past the screen edge on narrow phones, and the keyboard's action key is a return key that matches what Enter does (a new line; send with the button).

New

  • TeleFlock installs what a host is missing. Host setup offers omp (as a standalone binary), herdr, bun (when your omp needs it), the GitHub CLI, and, as root or with passwordless sudo, git and ffmpeg, each with its official installer and only after you tick its consent box. A host without herdr can now be added and set up from the app.
  • Videos. Attach videos in the session composer and in Dispatch (picker, drop or paste, up to 2 GB each). They are uploaded to the host with a progress chip, and the agent gets each file's path; omp reads videos with ffmpeg (a Host setup item).
  • Images and videos into the terminal. Paste or drop an image or a video into the terminal view, or use the image key on the phone: it is uploaded to the host and its path pasted, so omp in the pane attaches it as it would in a local terminal.
  • Password and private-key sign-in for SSH hosts. Under Advanced: authentication in the host dialog, next to Tailscale SSH (still the default): a key file (imported or pasted on the phone, optional passphrase) or a password. The secret stays on that device, goes only to that host and is tried once; the host key is confirmed on the first connect.
  • Repositories on the board. Every card and phone row shows its repository as a coloured chip, and the board can be filtered by repository on the phone too.
  • Delete worktree for finished pull requests. Review and Done cards whose pull request is merged or closed get Delete worktree.
  • Dictation on Android. The composer's mic now uses Android's speech recognizer and asks for the microphone the first time you tap it, with a link to the settings if it was denied for good.

Faster

  • The UI does less work. The React Compiler had silently skipped about 85 components (a Babel 8 incompatibility); it covers them again, and together with the changes below React's time per update fell by about half in our measurements. A Calm board with nothing happening went from 20 to 1.5 frames per second on a 4× slowed CPU, and the terminal view from 58 to 33.
  • Unfocused and hidden windows rest. While TeleFlock is in the background its animations stop; while it is minimized or in the tray its clocks, sparklines and the board's live terminal stop too. A window on a second monitor keeps its clocks running.
  • Hosts do less in the background. tf-hostd no longer runs git status for every agent folder every 30 s when no app is connected, runs omp every few minutes instead of several times a minute while one is, writes state.json once a minute instead of every 2 s while agents work, and sends a session's tree only when it changes (session updates carry about half the data).
  • Lighter WSL connects and updates (fewer wsl.exe starts, no login shell for the warm-up), the app's cache is written once a minute instead of every 5 s, events reach the window in batches, and the Windows tray icon no longer animates in Calm.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) and the omp extension changed. The first device that updates restarts the daemon once; your agents keep running. Agents that were already running keep the extension they loaded until they restart.

TeleFlock v0.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 26 Oct 03:23

TeleFlock 0.5.0 lets hosts run agents on a schedule and keep omp and herdr up to date by themselves, puts every omp setting in the app, spreads Dispatch tasks over a group of hosts, closes the panes of finished agents and brings them back when you need them, and makes the app much lighter on the GPU.

New

  • Automations. A host can now start an omp agent on a schedule: a nightly dependency audit, a weekday standup summary, a weekly flaky-test triage. Each run gets a fresh worktree forked from origin/main (or runs in a folder you pick), with your prompt, model, thinking level and plan mode. Schedules are cron expressions in the host's time zone; the editor has presets and shows the next runs in plain English. A run that is still busy is skipped instead of piling up, and missed runs can catch up once when the host comes back. On Linux with systemd a timer keeps tf-hostd running across reboots, so schedules fire with no app connected. Open it from the sidebar (Automations, Ctrl+7) or More on the phone.
  • omp settings in the app. Everything you can configure in omp is now in TeleFlock, per host: all of omp's settings with omp's own tabs, labels, choices and descriptions, a search, and a model-roles editor (default, smol, slow, plan, tiny, task, advisor and your own roles). Changes are written through omp config, so omp validates them. Open it from Settings → New agents, a host card's ⋯ menu, or Ctrl+8.
  • omp and herdr stay up to date. Every host checks for new omp and herdr releases every 6 hours and installs them (omp update, plain herdr update; never a live server handoff, so running agents keep running). The host card shows both versions, available updates and notes, with Check now / Update now and a switch to turn it off per host.
  • Host groups and Auto dispatch. Give hosts a group in the host editor, then pick Auto · in Dispatch: each task goes to the least busy host of the group (running agents, tasks on their way, CPU and memory) that has the repository, matched by its origin URL. Every task card says where it went and why.
  • Images in Dispatch. Paste, drop or attach images in Dispatch; they go to the agent with its first message, and image-only tasks work too. Pasting screenshots now also works on Linux in the session composer.

Changed

  • Done agents close their pane. Marking an agent done closes its herdr pane (and its worktree workspace when nothing else runs there) after the Undo window. The card stays in Done with its transcript; Resume, opening its terminal, or simply sending it a message reopens it with omp --resume in its worktree, and every open view follows it. Settings → New agents → Close panes of done agents turns this off.
  • Deleted sessions disappear. When omp's cleanup (or you) deletes an agent's session file, the agent disappears from the board, the inbox, notifications, Dispatch and its drafts.
  • New worktrees fork from origin/main. Dispatch, New worktree and Fan out fetch the default branch first and fork from the remote one instead of a local main that may be far behind. The new branch does not track main, so its first push publishes it under its own name.
  • Every running shell is visible. The Terminal view lists every pane on the host, shells and agents, grouped by workspace and tab, with the program running in it; the sidebar shows shells under their workspace and the palette finds them. Opening one attaches to the existing pane instead of starting a new shell.
  • Better Dispatch names. omp's tiny model sometimes answered a long task as if it had to do it ("I need to inspect the repository" became need-inspect-repository). It now gets the task as text to label, agent-like answers are rejected, and the fallback name comes from the task's lead sentence (release-0-5-0-fixes).

Fixed

  • Local hosts on Windows come online. The host daemon listened on a different pipe name than the one the app connected to, so a Local host on Windows never got past "Starting tf-hostd". Both now derive the pipe from the same home.

Faster

  • Much lighter on the GPU when nothing happens. In the default Calm motion the background no longer drifts, status animations play a few times and then stop, nothing animates while the window is in the background, and large translucent surfaces no longer use a live blur. On an idle board in Chromium the GPU process went from 97 % to 3 % CPU and the compositor layers from 75 to 17 (idle terminal: 37 → 1.4 frames per second). These were the constant GPU load reported on Windows laptops; it is not yet measured on real WebView2 hardware. Settings → Motion → Lively brings the drifting background back.
  • Smooth at 125 % / 150 % scaling on Linux. The same changes cut WebKitGTK's web process at 2× scale from 584 % to 114 % CPU on an idle board (session 530 % → 90 %, terminal 532 % → 95 %). If your GPU driver still stutters, WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1 is an opt-in described in docs/build.md.
  • The Windows window is opaque (its transparency had no effect but cost every frame), terminals release their WebGL context when they close, and idle cards stop sampling empty sparklines and ticking clocks.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) changed. The first device that updates restarts it once; your agents keep running and your other device reconnects a moment later. Host groups, Auto dispatch, Automations, omp settings and tool updates need both the app and the host on 0.5.0.

TeleFlock v0.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 23 Oct 14:25

TeleFlock 0.4.1 fixes sessions that never connected, agents that died with the login that started herdr, updates that waited for a manual check, and side questions, queued messages, image attachments and the board's live terminal.

Fixed

  • Resumed sessions connect again. Sessions opened from Past sessions (and other resumed sessions with subagents) stayed on "Lost the link to this session: timed out waiting for the host's welcome", while omp printed "TeleFlock joined the collab session" over and over. omp describes the subagents it restores from disk with fractional timestamps, and TeleFlock rejected the whole welcome because of them. It now reads any number there, and one unreadable subagent can no longer block the session.
  • Agents no longer die with a login session. On Linux with systemd, the herdr server and every agent in it lived in the login session of the SSH command that started herdr. When systemd-logind restarts (here: after the server stalled for 8 minutes), it stops such sessions and kills everything in them. tf-hostd and the herdr servers it starts now run in systemd scopes of their own. Host setup → herdr outside login sessions moves a herdr server that is still inside a login session, with all its agents, into its own scope without stopping anything (root; other users get the loginctl enable-linger route).
  • Automatic updates actually run. The app only checked once per process, at launch, so an app left running in the tray (or kept alive on Android) never saw a new version. It now also checks about every hour and when you come back to it, and backs off after failures. On Android, an update found in the background asks to install the next time you open the app. Settings → Updates shows the time of the last automatic check.
  • btw is omp's own /btw. A side question asked in TeleFlock now shows in omp's terminal and its /btw history, and you can follow up from either side. Side questions asked in the terminal show up in TeleFlock too, and Cancel stops the one that is answering. Sessions started before this update keep their old bridge until you restart them; TeleFlock says so when you try to follow up there.
  • Queued messages show at once. A steer (Enter while the agent works) or follow-up (Alt+Enter) appears as a queued chip the moment you send it and stays until it lands in the transcript. Steers sent from TeleFlock never showed in the queue before, because omp's queue display skips them.
  • Attachments open in full resolution. When omp is busy, it saves a downscaled copy of an image you send (and of images pasted in its terminal). The image viewer now loads the original when it opens: tf-hostd keeps what you sent for 30 days (at most 1 GiB), and terminal pastes use the file omp recorded.
  • The live terminal fills its tile. herdr draws an observed pane at the size the viewer asks for, so the board tile showed the pane as a small block in its top-left corner. Observers now open at the pane's real size and follow its resizes; the tile fills its width and keeps the newest rows, and resizing the window only rescales it.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) changed. The first device that updates restarts it once; your agents keep running and your other device reconnects a moment later. Then open Hosts → Host setup: if your herdr server still runs inside a login session, the new item moves it out. omp sessions that are already running keep the TeleFlock bridge they started with until they are restarted (resume them from Past sessions) — only btw needs that.

TeleFlock v0.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 22 Oct 12:09

TeleFlock 0.4.0 makes the app easier to pick up without hiding anything: each fact is shown once, in one place, with its unit, every action says what it does, and omp's tiny model now names things you used to type by hand.

New

  • AI naming with omp's tiny model. TeleFlock uses the tiny model role you set up in omp (falling back to smol) as its AI provider, on the host and through your own omp login.
    • Dispatch names each task's worktree and branch (dispatch/offline-board-cache). The name is fetched while you type, so most sends don't wait.
    • New worktree can leave the branch to the model ("Name it from the task"); it also names the agent. New agent, Fan out and Save as template suggest names, and Rename offers ✨ Suggest.
    • Review drafts the commit message (✨ Write it) and the pull request title and description.
    • AI-made names carry a ✨, are always editable, and fall back to names made from your own words when the model is slow or switched off (Settings → AI naming). Nothing is stored; the text goes only to your own model provider, through omp.
  • First steps. On the demo, a checklist on the board walks you through the flock (answer a question, approve a command, steer an agent, review, dispatch, the palette) and retires itself. New real hosts get their own short list.
  • Terms that explain themselves. Dotted words such as pane, steer, follow-up, worktree or compact explain themselves on hover or tap, and the ? sheet has a Terms section. Short hints beside the composer and the phone pager retire after a few sightings (Settings → Hints).

Changed

  • Board. Lanes are now Needs you · Running · Review · Done, with Needs you first and its oldest question on top. Every card has the same layout in every lane: the state and its time on top (waiting 6:13, turn 27:24, finished 25m ago), then who and where, the task, what it is doing now, and labelled meters (ctx 61%, subs 59%, +188 −74 · 3 files, model, thinking). Lane headers explain their order.
    • The top row shows today's spend with the subscription limit you will hit first, one row per host (CPU, RAM, load), and the live terminal. The duplicate question tile is gone: the question lives in its lane. On short windows the row becomes one line.
    • Archive is now "Mark done", with Undo instead of a confirmation. "Mark done & remove worktree…" asks first. Review cards show the next ship step ("Commit 3 files", "Push 2 commits").
    • Offline hosts say their cards are read-only, and a strip points out setup gaps with a Fix… button.
  • Calmer motion. By default only changes and what needs you move, so a waiting question stands out. Settings → Motion → Lively brings back every glow and breath; Reduced stays static.
  • One way to answer. Cards, the Inbox, Answer next, the session and the phone all draw questions the same way: numbered options (1–9) with their trade-off written inside the button, a clear "★ recommended", Skip (answer nothing) and "+N more". Requests that need typed text (for example a commit message) can now be answered from the Inbox and Answer next.
  • Inbox shows what needs you first, then unread updates (finished, errors, quiet agents). The bell is a quick peek at the same list. The needs-you pill in the title bar opens Answer next, like Ctrl+J.
  • Sidebar. + New task (D) on top, then New worktree, New agent, Fan out, Open folder and Past sessions with their labels. Board · Inbox · Activity · Usage below; each host shows its CPU and RAM and offers Connect / Retry / Sign in / Verify when it is not online; the workspace tree gets the rest of the height. Drag the edge to resize.
  • Session. The header says which controls are on (Plan on/off, Fast, Goal), shows "Stop turn", and shows cost only while the inspector is hidden. The inspector starts with "can it keep going" (context used, subscription left), then spend, throughput, todos and subagents. Enter sends or steers, Alt+Enter queues a follow-up; the ? sheet now says exactly that. Close pane asks first. A fresh agent offers starter prompts.
  • Command palette shows a one-line description for every action and understands "task", "archive" and "answer".
  • Phone. Tabs are Flock · Inbox · Dispatch · Terminal · More. Flock tiles take you somewhere (Answer →, running ↓, today's spend ›), every row has a ⋯ menu and Review rows have Mark done. Sessions have a Next chip to the next agent waiting, one model · thinking chip so Plan, Fast and Goal fit, and a context/cost pill that opens the inspector. The Terminal tab reopens the terminal you used last. Toasts appear at the bottom, one at a time.
  • Hosts. The Add host dialog lists what the host needs (sudo tailscale set --ssh, herdr and omp ≥ 18.12), a failed test shows the command that fixes it, and Host setup opens by itself while items are open, with each item explained by what goes wrong without it.
  • Review. A ship stepper (Commit · Push · PR · Merge · Done) with the next step as a button stays visible on laptop screens. The last stage offers Mark done.
  • Usage shows subscription limits first. Host colours no longer reuse the status colours.

Fixed

  • Dispatch: after picking a repository the cursor now goes to the task box. Typing a task that started with "n" used to open the New worktree wizard.
  • Phone: the session menu's "Open terminal in split" did nothing; it is now "Terminal" and opens it.
  • Phone: the host chip was green while a host was offline. The board's health tile showed only the first host.
  • Shortcuts: the ? sheet said Ctrl+Enter sends; Enter does.
  • Session links: opening a session link while its host was still connecting said "Agent not found". It now says it is waiting for the host.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) changed (it now runs AI naming). The first device that updates restarts it once, so your other device reconnects a moment later. AI naming needs omp ≥ 18.12 with a tiny or smol model role (omp config get modelRoles).

TeleFlock v0.3.5

Choose a tag to compare

@imaron85 imaron85 released this 21 Oct 21:02

Fixed

  • Android: the app opens every time. With the keep-alive service on, closing TeleFlock from the recent-apps list kept the connection running, but opening the app again showed only a dark screen until you force-stopped it. TeleFlock now rebuilds its window for the reopened app, and a notification tapped in that state still opens its agent.
    • While closed from recents, TeleFlock also stops trying to reach the Android UI, which used to break the host connection in the background.
    • New agent notifications are still not shown during that time. They resume when you open the app.
    • Coming back to the app now also continues an update that was waiting for the "install unknown apps" permission.
  • "Needs you" no longer flickers. When an agent asked a question, its card, the inbox and the notification could switch on and off several times a second. TeleFlock read the agent's state from herdr's general event stream, which falls behind by tens of seconds while omp animates its title. It now uses herdr's per-agent status events, which arrive on time. Answering the question still clears it right away.
  • The board's live terminal shows the whole terminal again. Closing the terminal split view squeezed the agent's real terminal to 2 columns on the way out, and herdr kept that size, so the live tile (and anyone watching) saw a 2-character-wide terminal. A closing view now never resizes the terminal. An agent that was already shrunk gets its size back the next time you open its terminal.
  • Pasted screenshots in the chat.
    • A large screenshot (over about 1 MB) no longer shows as a broken image.
    • Screenshots in subagent transcripts load too.
    • Clicking an image opens the full original from the host.
  • Image viewer. Images open at their actual size at most instead of being blown up and blurry; zoom in as before. The viewer no longer jumps to another image while an earlier one is still loading.

Updating: the host daemon (tf-hostd) changed. The first device that updates restarts it once, so your other device reconnects a moment later.
