BME688 v1.0.0
BME688 Arduino Library - Release Notes
Version 1.0.0
Release Date: March 15, 2025
Author: Saurav Sajeev
Overview
This is the initial release of the BME688 Arduino Library, a driver for the Bosch BME688 environmental sensor. The library enables Arduino users to interface with the BME688 to measure temperature, pressure, humidity, and gas resistance. It supports various operating modes, oversampling settings, and gas heater profiles, making it suitable for environmental monitoring and air quality applications.
New Features
-
Core Functionality:
- Read temperature (°C), pressure (Pa), humidity (%), and gas resistance (Ω).
- Support for Sleep, Forced, and Parallel operation modes (
BME_688_SLEEP_MODE,BME_688_FORCED_MODE,BME_688_PARALLEL_MODE). - Configurable oversampling settings (1x to 16x) for temperature, pressure, and humidity (
BME_688_OSS_1toBME_688_OSS_16).
-
Gas Sensing:
- Gas resistance measurement with 10 predefined heater profiles (200°C to 380°C) and customizable wait times (60ms to 255ms).
- Ability to measure gas resistance for a specific target temperature using
readGasForTemperature().
-
Configuration:
- Methods to set individual oversampling for temperature, pressure, and humidity (
setTemperatureOversampling(), etc.). - Debug logging toggle with
showLogs(). - Option to bypass temperature safety limits with
ignoreUnsafeTemperatureWarnings()(default limit: 425°C, max: 600°C).
- Methods to set individual oversampling for temperature, pressure, and humidity (
-
Safety and Diagnostics:
- Connection check with
isConnected(). - Calibration parameter handling for accurate sensor readings.
- Error codes for troubleshooting (e.g.,
BME688_E_DEV_NOT_FOUND,BME688_E_COM_FAIL).
- Connection check with
-
Dependencies:
- Built with
Arduino.handSensorHub.hfor seamless integration into Arduino projects.
