New

  • New photos appear at once. Photos and screenshots you take while Lumen is open now appear in the Library in about a second. Before, they appeared only after you left Lumen and came back. (#7)
  • Text in Videos settings. Go to Settings, then Smart Search, then Text in Videos. You can set how many frames each second Lumen reads for text in short, medium and long videos (1 to 60), and the maximum number of frames in a long video. More frames find quicker captions but take longer.
  • Screenshots in Hidden. Lumen now blocks screenshots and screen recordings of Hidden, and Hidden is blank in recent apps. To allow screenshots, go to Settings, then Privacy, then Hidden, then Allow Screenshots.
  • Star on GitHub. On the second day you use Lumen, it asks one time if you want to star the project on GitHub.

Fixed

  • Viewer buttons on bright photos. In dark mode, the viewer's buttons and date were hard to see on white photos and screenshots. They are easy to see now. (#6)
  • A person disappeared after you deleted their cover photo. The person now stays and gets a new cover at once.
  • Setup:
    • If you refused photo access two times, the Allow Access button did nothing. It now opens Lumen's App Info page.
    • If you refused photo locations two times, setup now tells you that Android will not ask again.
    • When All Files or Media Management is on, you can now tap it to open Android's page and turn it off.
  • Indexing:
    • If the model failed on a photo, Lumen skipped that photo permanently. It now tries the photo again on the next pass.
    • A model download that did not match its checksum tried again forever. It now stops after three tries and shows an error.
    • If a downloaded model file becomes damaged, Lumen now finds it and deletes it. Settings then lets you download it again.

Changed

  • Faster text in videos. Lumen reads the text in videos 8–39% faster and finds the same text.
  • Default frames in long videos. Lumen now reads 1 frame each second in videos longer than 2 minutes. Before, it read 120 frames in each video. To use the old way, set Max Frames to 120 in Text in Videos.
  • Stronger protection for Encrypt Hidden. The file that lets you open your encrypted items after a reinstall now uses Argon2id. Lumen updates it automatically the next time you open Hidden with your PIN, pattern or password. A PIN or pattern can still be guessed if someone copies the vault folder from your phone. For the best protection, use a password.
  • Backups. Android backups (Google, Seedvault and phone-to-phone transfer) now include only your settings. They do not include your lock, your vault key, your Hugging Face token, indexes or models.
  • Software Update now checks that the downloaded APK matches the checksum on GitHub before it installs it.
