Here is my own solution for zooming tmux panes that works for tmux 1.6+: http://goo.gl/fjS9B

It uses sed, but doesn't need an infinite read loop. Also it doesn't store its metadata in window's name which I find fragile.

Feel free to try it and give me feedback eventually.
