Native Codex CLI runtime using the user's installed executable and a persistent
asynchronous stdio app-server connection, without the optional Python SDK.
Codex owns its tools, sandbox, skills, MCP configuration and login storage.
Streaming Codex text, public reasoning summaries, plans, tool activity, file
changes, usage and rate limits in the TUI, with approvals, user questions,
cancellation, steering and native review.
Asynchronous Codex account, model and session controls, plus startup, RPC and
turn timing diagnostics.
Changed
:connect now offers Connect to an existing harness → Subscriptions →
separate Codex CLI and Codex SDK entries. Reconnect retains the selected
route, and the Harness Hub and command completion expose both choices.
:connect codex selects the installed CLI; :connect codex-sdk selects the
optional Python SDK. Both subscription routes verify ChatGPT authentication
before thread creation and prompts, without automatic API billing fallback.
Notes
The native CLI integration still uses Codex's supported app-server protocol.
Model and service latency still apply; faster inference is not guaranteed.
MCP elicitation forms and URL flows currently cancel with a visible message;
additional permission-profile requests decline.
