Firefox: Unable to hide calendar/time icon on input type="date" or "time"

In Firefox the built-in calendar icon for and doesn't hide even after adding CSS to remove it.

In Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers, everything works as expected and the icon disappears.

Question:
Is there any known way or workaround to completely hide or remove the built-in icon in Firefox?
