Prism 0.1.3 (macOS beta) — registration fix
Prism 0.1.3 — macOS beta
Registration fix: use this version instead of the previous macOS beta (0.1.2). Registration in the previous release was affected by confirmation emails pointing to localhost:3000, preventing testers from finishing signup. The production Supabase redirect is corrected, and this app explicitly requests https://prismclips.vercel.app/login. If an old email still points to localhost, request a fresh confirmation email.
Changes
- A first-login tutorial dims the app, highlights Start creating, and guides you through uploading a video, choosing Short settings, captions and content type, and creating your first Short.
- You created your first video appears after a successful generation. You can then choose an optional tour of the editor, captions, timeline and export controls.
- Tutorial completion is remembered per account on your Mac. Use Finish later to pause or Settings → Account → Replay first-video tutorial to start again.
- Includes the latest account usage controls: a 60-minute beta allowance, promo-code redemption, and server-side request and spend checks.
Downloads
This release contains macOS assets only, for macOS 14 or newer on Apple Silicon.
Prism-macOS.dmg: open the disk image and drag Prism to Applications.Prism-0.1.3.zip: the same app as a ZIP archive.SHA256SUMS.txt: checksums for both downloads.
This beta is locally code-signed and is not Apple-notarized. macOS may require you to approve opening it.
Validation
The production build, strict code-signature verification, account regression tests, tutorial tests and existing Mac editor regression tests passed. The tutorial was checked in the native Mac UI, including spotlight clicks, scrolling, the optional editor tour and export dialog. The tutorial success state was checked with simulated generation; a fresh real-email confirmation and another live AI generation were not run for this release.

Prism 0.1.2 (macOS beta)
Superseded: use Prism 0.1.3 for macOS. This version had a registration issue: confirmation emails could point to
localhost:3000, preventing signup from completing. The redirect is corrected and the app fix is included in 0.1.3. Request a fresh confirmation email if your old link still points to localhost.
- The update check works, and Settings › Updates shows what changed in each version.
- The beta option is gone; Prism updates to stable releases.
- Sign-in is a popup, and no API key is needed.

Prism 0.2.0-beta.1 (test build)
Prism 0.2.0-beta.1 (pre-release, for testing)
Prism turns one long video into vertical Shorts with Google Gemini: it finds the strongest moments, cuts them on sentence and pause boundaries, frames the speaker, adds captions and exports 1080×1920 MP4s.
This is a test build. Expect bugs. Please report them with what you clicked, what you expected and the message shown.

Before you start (everyone)
- Get a Gemini API key at https://aistudio.google.com/apikey. Prism won't work without one; the app shows a card asking for it on first launch.
- Costs and privacy: Google bills your AI Studio account for what Prism sends. Audio, transcripts and sampled video frames from your videos are sent to Google. Don't test with material you can't share with Google.
Install
macOS
- Unzip
Prism-macOS-arm64.zipand movePrism.appto Applications. - This build is not notarized. The first time, right-click → Open → Open. If macOS still refuses, run
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Prism.app. - macOS asks for Keychain access to store your key. Choose Always Allow.
- Exports go to
Downloads › Prism › <project name>. macOS may ask Prism for access to Downloads; allow it.
Windows (untested)
- Unzip and run
Prism.exe. - Prism needs ffmpeg and ffprobe. Put
ffmpeg.exeandffprobe.exenext toPrism.exe, or add them to PATH. Use a build with libx264, libx265 and libass. - Your key is stored encrypted for your Windows user (DPAPI).
Linux (untested)
- Install the requirements:
sudo apt install ffmpeg libgtk-4-1 gstreamer1.0-plugins-good gstreamer1.0-libav libsecret-tools xdg-utils(names differ by distribution). tar -xzf Prism-Linux-x64.tar.gz && cd linux-x64 && ./Prism.Linux- The key is stored in your desktop keyring (
secret-tool). If no keyring is available it falls back to a file readable only by you, in plaintext.
How to test
- Paste your key on the welcome card. Check that Test connection succeeds in Settings.
- Import a video of 5–20 minutes (Home → Start creating).
- Choose 3 Shorts, 30 seconds, and create them. Wait for the progress card to finish.
- Open each Short: check the picture, captions, the cut points and the framing.
- Try: captions style, Fit and Split layouts, trim, mute, undo, remove a Short.
- Export (choose Shorts and quality). Open the exported MP4s in a normal player.
- Restart the app and open the project again.
Most useful feedback: a phone-shot vertical video, a podcast with two people, a screen recording, a very short video, and anything that fails.
Known issues
- Windows and Linux builds have not been started on a real machine. They may not open at all.
- Windows and Linux: the Shorts pipeline and rendering run through ffmpeg; if it is missing or too old, the app says so.
- Prompt wording for picking clips and framing has not been measured on real videos. Picks may be weak; tell us which ones.
- Captions use English filler-word rules when trimming the start of a Short.
- Chat assistant commands are limited to the ones listed in the app.
- Each reinstall on macOS asks for Keychain access again until a stable signing identity is used.
Reporting
Open an issue and attach: the app and OS version, the video length and type (not the video itself if private), and the message shown.
