Tempest v0.1.25

The mobile companion app graduates from Experimental to Beta. It moves into its own permanent nav entry (no feature flag required), gets a fingerprint guard before connecting to the desktop, drops dead UI, and ships a round of reliability fixes across pairing, push, and the session screen. Still Beta — Android only, LAN transport, no Play Store — but stable enough to live there.

What's in this release

Mobile: out of Experimental, into Beta

The Mobile entry in Settings is now a first-class nav item with a Beta badge. The old experimentalMobile flag is gone — no toggle to flip, no Experimental row to find it under (Warp's experimental row stays). OTA update support via expo-updates is wired in for preview and production channels, so critical fixes can land without a full APK respin. Duplicate Android CAMERA / RECORD_AUDIO permission entries are cleaned up.

Mobile: hardening pass

  • Fingerprint confirmation before pairing. The companion now requires a biometric/device-credential confirmation before dialing the desktop. A stray phone can't silently connect.
  • No debug leakage in production. console.log is gated on __DEV__ across RPC, pairing, push, Connected, and ErrorBoundary — nothing leaks to device logs on a production build.
  • FAB cleaned up. The dead "New session" FAB and its long-press handlers are removed. The FAB now goes to unpair, which is the only action it should have offered.
  • SessionScreen dead state removed. Unused setDiag state is deleted.
  • ThemeProvider wrapper dropped from Welcome. Welcome hardcodes a light StatusBar directly — the wrapper was doing nothing.
  • Android keyboard behavior fixed. KeyboardAvoidingView uses height behavior on Android (was padding, which mispositions the input on some devices).
  • agent.resize detection fixed. Old-desktop detection in agent.resize now matches the no_handler: prefix exactly instead of a substring — avoids false positives on unrelated messages.

Platform Support

Platform Status
Windows 11 (x64) Supported. Pre-built binary available. MSI and NSIS installers.
macOS Supported. Signed + notarized. Separate arm64 and x86_64 DMGs.
Linux Supported. x86_64 and arm64 AppImage + deb.
Android (mobile) Beta. APK only, sideload, LAN-only transport. No Play Store.
iOS (mobile) Not yet. Following the Android APK.

Windows requires WebView2 (bundled automatically when necessary).

Database Branches (from v0.1.5) additionally require Docker; without it the feature stays dormant and everything else works normally.

Atlas semantic search (from v0.1.10) downloads a ~25 MB embedding model on first opt-in.

The mobile companion (from v0.1.21) requires installing the APK on an Android phone on the same Wi-Fi as the desktop.

Required configuration

  • Mobile on upgrade from v0.1.24: the experimentalMobile flag is gone. If you had the old Experimental toggle on, Mobile is now always visible in Settings — nothing to re-enable.

What's next

iOS build and Play Store distribution for Android. Relay transport so push works with the desktop asleep. Terminal: continue chasing focus/resize edges as they surface.
