txp:text item='categories' returns empty string on error status

Expected behaviour

txp:text item='categories' works independent on status.

Actual behaviour

<txp:category_list label="<txp:text item='categories' />" wraptag="p" break="br" labeltag="h4"/>

Using txp:text item='categories' for the label in a txp:category_list renders the expected text string when used on a normal page (200), but it returns an empty string when used on the error_default page (4XX).
