blobl v0.5.1 — CLI, MCP, and schema tools

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 16:58

Bloblang now includes a standalone mapping runner, fixture tests and agent tools alongside its language server.

  • blobl mcp: six local stdio tools for evaluation, linting, formatting, batched documentation search, full documentation lookup and sample schemas.
  • blobl run: evaluate without a pipeline, return lint diagnostics with output/errors, and load mapping/input/sample files using editor-compatible fixtures and import resolution. Workers enforce a hard execution deadline.
  • blobl test: named JSON/YAML fixtures with output, metadata, deletion and error assertions.
  • Batched lexical/fuzzy search returns deduplicated results, per-query ranks, match evidence and capability metadata. Semantic search is explicitly not advertised.
  • blobl schema and editor schema previews use the existing Go jtd-infer library to produce JSON Type Definition. No JavaScript runtime, enum inference or custom type inference engine. Results include sample-based caveats and are validated against the original sample.
  • Shared sample parsing rejects extra documents and retains numeric precision.

The repository and Go module moved to github.com/teyfix/bloblang. Update Git remotes and release download URLs directly. The blobl executable, legacy server binaries/archives, LSP command IDs, configuration locations and environment variable prefixes remain compatible. VS Code extension 0.3.1 uses the new download URLs.

Documentation: MCP, evaluation, schema summaries, migration.

blobl v0.4.1 — editor and formatting improvements

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 16:38

Bloblang editor and formatter improvements:

  • Signature help, hierarchical document symbols, and folding ranges.
  • Workspace references follow the same discovery rules as rename, including imports, YAML and live buffers.
  • YAML formatting and quick fixes preserve indentation, scalar headers, anchors, tags, comments and line endings.
  • Lint suppression comments stay attached when formatting wraps a statement.
  • Document generations, a coalescing diagnostic sender, cancellation and parser disposal prevent stale results and close/reopen races.
  • Preview results are shared through a bounded cache; inlay hints respect requested ranges.
  • Samples are limited to regular files up to 4 MiB; generated storage directories are excluded from recursive CLI scans.

The public binary remains blobl. Legacy server binaries and extension archive names remain compatible.

blobl v0.3.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 01:58

The language server now includes its actual build version in startup and initialization logs, making it clear which installed executable is running.

The LSP initialize response also reports the same build version instead of the old hardcoded value. This applies to blobl lsp, bloblang-lsp, and the legacy language-server entrypoint. Unversioned development builds report dev.

Validation: startup smoke tests check stderr logs and the LSP initialize response for all three entrypoints, including release metadata and development builds; Go tests and vet pass.

blobl v0.3.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 00:50

The new blobl executable provides lsp, lint and fmt commands using the same Bloblang analysis and formatting as the editor.

  • Lint and format standalone Bloblang and embedded YAML mappings, including stdin, directories and quoted globs such as blobl lint '**/*.blobl'.
  • Handle quoted wildcard arguments and escaped import paths consistently on Windows.
  • Respect .gitignore, .bloblangignore, and .bloblangrc.json exclusions during discovery, with --no-ignore and explicit-file overrides.
  • Share nearest configuration and source-relative import resolution between CLI and LSP; preserve YAML around safe fixes.
  • Provide blobl-release.json and raw executables for six host targets, allowing clients to install and validate a specific version without GitHub API discovery or authentication.
  • Replace the obsolete repository config example with current .bloblangrc.json defaults and schema completion.
  • Preserve existing language-server binaries and archive names for compatibility.

Download the blobl-v0.3.2-<os>-<arch> archive and place its blobl executable on PATH. Run blobl --version to check the selected executable.

Validation: go test ./..., go vet ./..., and native CLI/LSP startup checks; release CI tests each supported native build host.
