WASM Chasm 0.1.0, pre-release

A small Windows tool for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Pick one or more aircraft and purge their WASM data in a few keystrokes, without searching through AppData for package IDs.

This is an early pre-release. Please read before using it:

  • It hasn't been tested on a Steam install. It has only been run on a Microsoft Store install. If you use Steam, please turn on Dry run first (F3, then Dry run) and check the folders it lists. Then tell me in Issues whether it found your install. If it says "No install found", the screen lists the folders it looked in. Please include those.
  • By default it removes only the compiled files the sim makes itself, and the sim rebuilds them. Your aircraft's work folder is kept. Purging work is a separate setting, and it can erase add-on settings and licence files.
  • Everything goes to the Recycle Bin by default, so you can restore it.
  • The sim is checked before each aircraft. If it starts mid-run, the rest are skipped.

Install

  1. Download wasm-chasm-win-x64.zip below (not "Source code").
  2. Unzip it anywhere and run WasmChasm.exe. There is no installer, no network access, and no admin rights needed.

Windows may show a SmartScreen warning ("Windows protected your PC"), because the app isn't code-signed. If you trust this download, choose More info, then Run anyway.

Check your download (optional)

Compare the result of this PowerShell command with the line in SHA256SUMS.txt:

Get-FileHash wasm-chasm-win-x64.zip -Algorithm SHA256

You can also confirm that GitHub built the zip from this source:

gh attestation verify wasm-chasm-win-x64.zip -R theflaknine/MSFS-WASM-Chasm

Notes

  • Fun and Serious modes: the app asks on first run. Fun is an amber retro terminal. Serious is plain, with no animation or sound. Press F4 to switch.
  • Free and open source (MIT). Not affiliated with Microsoft or Asobo Studio. Bug reports are welcome in Issues. Pull requests aren't accepted.
