EiSen 1.0.0 for macOS
Faster capture, safer sharing, and less work between the hotkey and the app you are sending to.
✨ New
- Redact: a solid block that replaces sensitive pixels in the exported image. Use it for secrets: large text can stay readable under Blur.
- Crop in the editor: non-destructive, with handles. Undo brings the previous bounds back.
- Capture previous region:
Ctrl+Shift+2or the tray menu selects the last region again, so Enter copies it. The region stays in memory only. - Floating thumbnail: a preview after each capture. Click to edit, drag it into another app, or turn it off in Settings.
⚡ Improvements
- Faster capture on macOS 14 and later: about 120 ms from trigger to frozen screen, down from about 190 ms, measured on an M3 Pro. Older macOS versions keep using
screencapture. The Dock and menu bar glass can look slightly different in captures. - OCR now reads Japanese and Korean. In the editor it reads only what you would export, so text outside a crop or under Redact is skipped.
- Captures are confirmed in a small window that does not take focus, with Show in folder for saved files.
- A subtle dim shows the overlay is ready, replacing the label near the menu bar.
🐛 Fixes
- Focus returns to the previous app after a capture.
- Closing the editor with annotations asks first, so edits are not lost by accident.
- Pressing the capture hotkey while the overlay is open now cancels cleanly.
prefers-reduced-motionis respected across the app.
🪟 Windows
EiSen 1.0 is in the Microsoft Store. It's built and packaged automatically and hasn't been run on a real Windows PC yet, so it may have bugs. The floating thumbnail and capture previous region are macOS only. The direct installer stays on 0.2.5. Please report problems on GitHub.
