@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Sep 19:06

Download

Windows — pictogrep-windows-x86_64-setup.exe
Double-click the installer, then open Pictogrep from the Start menu.

Linux, Intel or AMD — pictogrep-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
Linux, ARM — pictogrep-linux-arm64.tar.gz
Extract the archive and run pictogrep. Nothing else is needed.

The remaining files on this page are the bare binaries Pictogrep downloads when it updates itself, and their checksums. You do not need to click them.

What changed

  • Fixed pictures going missing from their folders on Windows in 0.11.12 and 0.11.13. A folder's entries were read back through a path Windows spells differently from the one the library keeps, so a picture sitting in a folder was not recognised as being in it: it showed up as unsorted, and the folder looked emptier than it was. Nothing was deleted, and updating puts the pictures back where they were.
  • Deleting a picture no longer leaves a broken entry behind in every folder it was in. Now that folders are real directories, those showed up as dead links in a file manager.

What changed

  • Fixed folders losing their pictures on Windows in 0.11.12. Folders became real directories holding one link per picture, but Windows refuses to create those links unless Developer Mode or an administrator is behind it, so adding a picture to a folder could fail and leave the folder without it. Windows keeps the previous folder format until the format that needs no links is ready. Anyone on Windows running 0.11.12 should update.

What changed

  • Pasting a picture's link works again for links copied off a picture page. Any address carrying a # was refused outright as invalid, and the link you get from "copy link" on a Wikipedia or Wikimedia picture always has one. The part after the # is never sent to the website anyway, so it is now ignored instead of refusing the link.
  • When a link cannot be downloaded, Pictogrep now says why. A site that blocks pictures opened from outside its own pages is named as doing that, a link that points at a web page instead of a picture file says so and tells you to copy the picture's own link, and anything else names the site and what it sent back.
  • Following a website is now saved the moment you ask for it. It used to be saved only after the first download finished without a single error, so following a site that was slow, blocked, or had nothing new that day left the box ticked and nothing actually followed: it never appeared in your followed list and was never checked again.
  • Folders are now real directories you can open in a file manager. A folder used to hold nothing but an images.json listing file, so it looked empty everywhere except inside Pictogrep. It now holds one entry per picture.
  • Renaming or moving a picture outside Pictogrep no longer throws away its AI index. The index was filed under the old path, so a rename done in a file manager meant that picture had to be re-indexed from scratch.

What changed

  • Installed plugins no longer ask for an unlock on desktop, paid or not. The license check that used to gate them stays as it was on mobile.
  • Folders now stay where you drag them on the Folders tab. Pictogrep saved the new order but drew the wall biggest first every time, so a dragged card snapped straight back to where it started. Reordering while the folder search box is filtering no longer sends the folders that did not match to the end of the order either.
  • Opening a folder no longer blows its card up across the screen. Pictogrep morphed the card and the picture grid into each other as one travelling rectangle, stretching and cropping both on the way. The wall now fades out while the pictures fade in and rise the last few pixels into place, in the same rhythm as the tab underline.

What changed

  • The calendar view no longer takes several seconds to open. Every picture was being filed under a single nonsense month, so the whole library was drawn as one section; dates are now read correctly, months are grouped and sorted properly, and only the newest few months load up front while older ones fill in as you scroll to them.
  • Calendar months now sort by date instead of alphabetically, so October comes after September rather than before April.
  • Each calendar month keeps its heading pinned while you scroll through its pictures, so you can always see which month you are looking at.
  • The top bar no longer follows you down the page. It sits at the top of the page and scrolls away with everything else, leaving the full screen for pictures.
  • Opening a folder now shows the folder's name and picture count above the grid, with a way straight back to all pictures.
  • A new "Full width" setting lets the picture grid run edge to edge instead of stopping at the page width.
  • You can scroll by holding the left mouse button and dragging, so a stylus or Wacom pen can scroll without a wheel. It works like a touchpad: the page follows your hand exactly, and letting go while moving keeps it gliding for a moment before it eases to a stop. Letting go while still leaves the page exactly where you put it. Dragging on top of a picture scrolls like anywhere else, and a small wobble while clicking still opens the picture, so an unsteady pen does not cost you the click. It works inside panels that scroll on their own too, like the settings drawer and the sidebar, and Firefox no longer warns that the site has control of your pointer.
  • Switching between Pictures and Folders now feels immediate because the tab underline catches up with the already-instant panel change nearly twice as fast.

Download

Windows — pictogrep-windows-x86_64-setup.exe

What changed

  • Opening a folder now has a clearer sense of depth: its cover moves forward into the picture grid, which settles into place instead of simply cross-fading.

v0.11.5

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Sep 23:39

Download

Windows — pictogrep-windows-x86_64-setup.exe
Double-click the installer, then open Pictogrep from the Start menu.

Linux, Intel or AMD — pictogrep-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
Linux, ARM — pictogrep-linux-arm64.tar.gz
Extract the archive and run pictogrep. Nothing else is needed.

The remaining files on this page are the bare binaries Pictogrep downloads when it updates itself, and their checksums. You do not need to click them.

What changed

  • Pictogrep opens in a fraction of a second instead of one to two seconds. Startup used to hash every picture in the library to check for accidental duplicates before showing anything; it now only hashes files that already share an exact size with another file, and runs off to the side instead of blocking the window from appearing. Loading past searches for instant reuse was moved off the startup path the same way.
  • Folders can be dragged into a new order on the Folders tab. The drop side of this already worked; folder cards just were not draggable yet.
  • The Images tab no longer shows a running picture count next to its label.
  • Switching between Images and Folders now slides the underline to the new tab instead of the old one vanishing and a new one appearing in its place.
  • The calendar now says what each month was about. Under "August 2026" a short line names the month's theme, such as "Soft concept art, war and armour", read from the pictures themselves using the vectors AI search already keeps on your machine. It appears once a month holds at least four indexed pictures, and it describes what that month leans towards compared to the rest of your library, so two months of the same kind of drawing do not get the same sentence.
