@timboat timboat released this 04 Nov 03:06

✅ Tested and working. This release was set up from scratch on a clean Windows (Windows Sandbox: no Python,
Git, Visual Studio, RPCS3 or Visual C++ runtime) through to "All done", and played on a gaming PC.

No game files are included, and there is no ready-to-play download. The ZIP holds the tools, patches, build
scripts and the launcher. SETUP.bat reads your own disc image and builds the game on your PC.

New in this release

  • Fixed: downloads failed on a brand-new Windows ("CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED"): SETUP now lets Windows fetch the missing root certificate and tries again.
  • Fixed: "VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found" from xwin when the game's EBOOT was already decrypted: the build installs the Visual C++ runtime itself before it needs it.
  • The build fits your RAM: it runs at most one compile per 2 GB of memory, so PCs with many cores and little RAM no longer run out.
  • Clearer messages: a folder path that is too long for Windows, and Smart App Control blocking the self-built tools, are now explained instead of failing with a confusing error.
  • More robust RPCS3 decrypt step: tries three times, hides graphics drivers it does not need, and shows RPCS3's exit code and log if it still fails.
  • Step-by-step setup guide in the README.

Install

  1. Download DemonsSoulsRecomp-v2026.11.03.10.zip below and unpack it somewhere with ~14 GB free, in a short,
    plain path such as C:\Games\DemonsSouls.
  2. Start DemonsSoulsLauncher.exe and press Play: the first time it offers to run SETUP.bat, answer
Yes. Give it your disc image (.iso, Redump .zip, or a dumped folder). If the image needs its disc key,
SETUP opens Redump's page for this disc for you: copy the "Disc Key" line and
paste it with Ctrl+V. Pressing Enter takes the suggested answer for everything else. SETUP downloads
what your PC lacks (Python, Git, RPCS3, a compiler, the Visual C++ runtime) by itself.
  3. When it says All done, press Play.

Update from an older copy

From v2026.11.03.7 on, Check for updates in the launcher does everything (download, rebuild, reopen; your game
files, saves and settings stay). Copies from before v2026.11.03.7, this one time: download the new ZIP, copy
everything inside its DemonsSoulsRecomp-v2026.11.03.10 folder over your old folder (replace files; your game,
port and deps folders and your saves are not in the ZIP and stay), then press Play: it rebuilds what changed first.

Known issues

  • No online play yet; multiplayer is planned once the game is optimised.
  • Mostly smooth on high-end PCs; lower-end CPUs (4-6 cores) can still dip in heavy areas. Work on that is ongoing.
  • At 2x internal resolution a loading screen can briefly flicker in the top-left corner (fix in progress).
  • Windows N editions without the Media Feature Pack: the game does not start yet (fix in progress).
  • Inside Windows Sandbox or a VM, RPCS3 can crash while decrypting; decrypt on another PC (see the README).
  • Steam Deck not confirmed yet.
